I’m back! So happy son matched to his number one choice and will be doing his Small Animal rotating internship at Colorado State University Veterinary Teaching Hospital, Fort Collins, CO!
Between 400 and 500 applicants, 12 openings, and he got one!
He and my dil are thrilled!
He passed his boards so now after graduation on to the next step!
I bragged last month that our son finished in the top ten of round 1 of the President’s Cup Cybersecurity Challenge . Today, he finished third in round 2 and is the youngest competitor in the top ten. Next month, the ten go to D.C. to compete in the final round. Good luck, son!
I have a kid who was with same first employer for a decade (including internship time)…. then decided to change, which admittedly made me nervous. After weekend conversation about the first month at the new place, it sounds like it was a great move - Yay.
I love a good cocktail. A nightcap after a great day is something I value. And, while I consider myself a decent mixologist I have to admit my concoctions pale in comparison to what the pros can do. I just returned from a long awaited vacation where I had the chance to sample cocktails at 3 of the worlds top 50 cocktail bars - it was awesome! I also, located a great cocktail bar in Tokyo called Gaslight Eve. The bartender is woman in a male dominated field who has won many awards. The bar is small seating 8 at the bar and two 4 top tables - what a great place.
S1 commented in a thread about managing volunteers for retention and engagement with "I have always done X Y Z " and someone asked if he learned that in his college work and he said “No, I learned that from watching my mom with her volunteers”
My S has been job hunting for months. So far…nothing. It is very hard but he has been really proactive in reaching out to contacts (not easy for an introvert), exploring multiple options, working to acquire new skills, etc.
It’s pretty easy to keep going when things are good, but it’s so much harder when things are just not going your way.
No, but someone is taping it so I’ll get to see it eventually. I wanted to!, but he didn’t want us to fly out for such a short set. If things go well, he’ll get a longer set down the road and we can go out for that.
