The Bragging Thread

One possible side effect of having a stroke is something called “emotional incontinence”, which is an occasional inability to control your emotions, manifested by laughing or crying with the slightest provocation.

Incontinence describes it perfectly; instead of peeing your pants, you pee your face. Lol

This first affected me many years ago and I’m medicated for it. It hasn’t happened to me in years…

Until Sunday after the race when I posted here about my daughter’s support and us completing the race together.

It’s happening to me again now, and I’m not the slightest bit embarrassed to admit it.

If you’ve ever traveled with me (you haven’t, I don’t know any of you, in person), you know that even after booking any portion of my trip I will continue to price check and have been known to save many hundreds of dollars on almost every trip. Well, today, I beat my own personal best! I have booked an “economy plus” flight to Amsterdam and was ok with it. I had priced business class but the upgrade was $4,400! That’s not an “upgrade” that’s an entire trip! At breakfast I got pinged by my KLM app, it was nothing, but I decided to see if they were offering an upgrade this early (trip is in July), I almost fell out of my chair, upgrade to lie flat business class was $220. Two hundred and twenty! I asked my love to double check what I was seeing and it was confirmed. Needless to say I upgraded!

It might be that international travel is on a death spiral at this moment, you know, all the stuff that’s been happening - but either way, I’m stoked.

It put me on a goose chase to see if my Southwest flight dropped (they’re so good about price matching), and yup, down $125!

I highly recommend if you’ve got flights booked that you review now. You too might save some $$.

Definitely.

I rebooked two SW trips and used the savings to fund one leg of a round-trip flight to Vegas. I love saving money on flights!

I just saw a news clip about an hour ago that prices are dropping on flights, international and domestic.

I’m proof…they are! I just texted D to tell her to check, she’s heading to Australia/New Zealand in August for a month. Fingers crossed she can save some money too.

How does price-checking on flights work? I figured it was kind of a done deal once you’d bought a ticket. So … you … go to the site and look up your flight … and …???

Some will refund the difference (depending on their policy), some will provide flight credit good for a year, or like Southwest, they offer flight credit that never expires - or if you booked with frequent flyer miles, they’ll reinstate the difference. Each airline is different - I always call, and let a human help me.

OK, this thread inspired me to rebook my two current trips. I’ve pocketed an additional $108 per person to spend on T’giving flights! :tada:

Yay! Another Doctor in the family. SIL2 just graduated today. He’s officially a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT).

That makes 2 MDs, 1 PhD and a DPT.

Not bad. Not bad at all.

The Country Music Awards are tomorrow night - streaming on Prime () -

Reba, Miranda Lambert & Lainey Wilson are doing a tribute and are sporting designs by my D (and I got to see the cutest video of Reba trying on her new jacket, twirling and saying “love it honey!” :heart_with_ribbon:

Later in the show Lainey will wear garments by D - apparently Lainey has a new stylist and they’re going for a “hotter, younger” look - the look is hot! Black leather top to bottom.

I will watch! Reba comes across as a very genuine person. Glad she loved the jacket!

My D was delighted and yes she seems very genuinely kind and lovely -

Use Google flights or kayak to track the fares. I have gotten a lot of miles back, cashback, and e-credits on several flights by doing this.

Lainey Wilson won Female Artist of the Year at the Academy of Country Music Awards in head to designs by our D.

We all just learned that she’s Brian (Beach Boys) Wilson’s daughter -

We never get over how freaking talented our D is.

Her dad is named Brian, but he’s not that Brian Wilson. Her dad is a farmer from Louisiana.

The other Brian Wilson’s daughters Carnie and Wendy Wilson were also singers - of Wilson Philips.

Whoops, thanks for steering me back! I actually wondered why I’d never heard that before. :face_with_spiral_eyes::upside_down_face:

Our neighbor has a young au pair from French. I used to be very proficient in French, but that was a millenium ago. The au pair and I chatted over the fence for a little while a few weeks ago. According to the neighbor, the au pair told her I speak excellent French with no accent at all. Now if only I could remember the verb tenses!!
