I’m not sure that this is really a brag, I’m just excited! Well, I guess it’s a brag that ds1 has immaculate gift-giving skills.
We will be visiting him for T’giving, which coincides with my birthday and dh’s, and he got the idea for our birthdays to get us all tix to see the Spurs, our team, play the Minnesota Timberwolves! Soooo excited as this will be our first time to see Wemby play in person. Go, Spurs, go!
DSs birthday was this past week. We gave him a gift of money, and told him he could do whatever he wanted with it…weekend away, something for his townhouse, dinner out a lot of times, etc.
When we talked to him, he told us he was going to use part of it to get a new black suit. As a musician, he needs to have one. He actually has a black suit, but here this is the funny part…that suit he has now is about 38 years old. It belonged to a friend, then friend’s son used it. Then they gave it to DS who has had it since about 2000.
DH told DS that DS will be very happy to have a suit that is tailored to fit him!
We called our friends who gave DS that suit to let them know it was being retired…finally. They could not stop laughing. That black suit (a wool and poly blend) had a good run. It was mostly used for musical concerts…and it saw a LOT of them.
We are looking forward to seeing the new suit DS gets!
Oh…and DH told him to get a couple of new shirts too!
Yes & no. My S was always very skinny. He has been working out for the past few years and has intentionally bulked up. He feels great and looks very fit. Bonus … playing drums in his metal band is easier now that he’s stronger!
Combining the two posts…I had a friend who worked in the men’s suit department at a department store when we were in college. He used to cringe in horror when the football players would come in because their thighs were so big and would stretch out (if not rip) the suits they tried on. Those suits weren’t lasting 25 years!
Rowers have the same problem; it’s all in the legs. You never, ever want to get kicked by a rower. We always say that our son has frog legs. Fortunately, Uncle Sam tailors all his uniforms to fit that physique.
Tailoring has been a lifesaver for my child with very muscular quads/glutes. Super small waist size in comparison.
I now think everyone should get their clothes tailored to them - it is relatively cheap and easy to take in a waist while making sure the pants fit in the seat and thighs.
Thing #1 got a co-op with a large manufacturer for the spring semester. If that goes well, it will segue into a summer coop. He started looking immediately upon returning to Case in September, and had several companies wooing him.
Thing #2 is 3/3 so far with college acceptances - MSU, Michigan Tech, and Penn State. This bodes well for his targets, if not his reach. I don’t need to drop him off at the Marine recruiter in June.
I shot my first buck in several years on opening day. Better yet, I saw him in the first hour of daylight, so I was done early and didn’t need to race to the processor before they closed.
And finally, Thing #2 baked a scrumptious apple pie with a gluten free crust to accommodate his mother. The pie rivaled my mother’s, and she was the pie master. High praise, indeed.
Oh, and my PSA came back negative. So I got that going for me. Which is nice.
Thanks, that was in 2021. He’s better now, and officially retired from college athletics. He may actually help coach the team this upcoming spring season as an internship. We’ll see what happens.
