The Cafe Watering Hole: PART DEUX

This is ridiculous. Doesn’t anyone want to know about how I’m going to fail high school?

/attentionwhore

/annyoingslashmarks

/annoyingself-awareness

Finals week is now over, and I’m back in the nothingness of Ohio. You thought Canada didn’t exist? Psh. Ohio exists less. So if you throw me an e-bone, I’ll run with it.

I read the script for Juno. Don’t ask me why, I just did. What’s done is done.

Point is, I will never not love that freaking movie, even if its success lies in spite of the writing.

I haven’t watched any movies.

Soooooo… what’s up with you guys?

Um. Well. Exams start tomorrow. I haven’t learned anything in biology. Fail.

Um. Also. Um.

That’s it. School has drained me of my attention whoriness.

Pshht. What’s the final list of schools you’re applying to? And keep in mind that NU is pretty much perfect.

Scripps Chicago Rice Hahvahd Columbia NYU Vandy Pomona; I had Macalester on there, but I doubt I’ll apply. Northwestern instead? Ookay.

And I got into UTK. Got a crapload of scholarships too. April is going to be ridiculous.

Also, what should I write for my Why Northwestern? essay? Not that I’ve started on any of my supplemental essays, but might as well have ideas floating.

I mean, if you’re applying to Comm you should definitely write about RTVF, considering it’s the perfect major for you. Either way, all of the opportunities to get involved in screenwriting, production, and all that stuff on campus.

I got deferred!

I’m oddly happy.

Aww. And that’s just a little odd. I was kind of happy with my Princeton rejection.

Bah Ohio.

I’m not going to apply to any specialized schools. One, because my parents won’t pay for it. Two, well, there isn’t a second reason. I think I’ll major in English, it’s inoffensive and helpful.

I’m oddly happy for you, yak.

I’m happy for you too, Yak, and I know exactly how you feel, considering about one year ago I was in the same boat.

Well the creative fiction major in the English department could still cover your needs, snoop. Either way, the most honest Why Northwestern? I could write now would be about how wonderful it is to have music and journalism and theater and science and engineering and liberal arts majors all in the same place. Being surrounded by incredibly talented people in such a wide variety of fields has been amazing. I mean, my friend was in an opera a few weeks ago. A kid down the hall is a violin performance bio double major. Just stuff like that.

hi everybody!

Oh Northwestern. You all have such practical majors up there.

If you’re wondering about the Why Chicago? essay, all you have to do is make up some crap about how you’re intellectually curious and that you have wide interests, all of which will be satisfied by the Core. Works like a charm. It’s also in the perfect college community. The restaurants are friendly for student budgets, the CTA gets you anywhere, and the neighborhood is really diverse. It’s actually a bit of an intellectual bubble cut off from reality, but don’t let them know that.

…Not that you asked me, but whatever.

I don’t know about creative ficion or all that…I was thinking more English lit, that sort of thing. Honestly, I just want to learn a lot of things and prepare for my career on the side, you know? Idk, idk. As long as I’m able to do film-y extracurriculars, I could care less about my major, does that make sense?

Also, bio exam tomorrow. Coincidentally, I also die tomorrow. Not that the two are related or anything.

How many hipster republicans do you know? Cause I know kind of a lot.

I kind of killed biology today. In case you wanted to know.

Do hipster republicans exist? Perhaps I’m only familiar with the Chicago variety, but that doesn’t sound possible.

Then again, that would take irony to a whole new level…

Nope, they do. In Tennessee.

You see, you really don’t know how I have it here. It’s one giant McDonald’s-eating, Al Gore-hating, crappy school system-funding hypocrisy.

That’s Ohio too, silly.

But I’m from Chicago now. I sort of realized something. After I leave school and get a job, I’ll probably tell people I’m from Chicago.
