They let you submit school/teacher things a bit past the deadline, because they know it’s not your fault if stuff gets in a little later. And you’ll be able to check if they’ve received everything once you submit your app and they give you access to some sort of application status check thing.

But be careful, not all colleges will pester you to send in your stuff. I know Columbia reserves the right to give an admissions decision to a student with an incomplete application, so be careful that everything is in fairly early. As well, I know someone who applied to USC but never got an admissions decision because one of her teacher recommendations was lost in the mail and USC didn’t notify her of this until after April 1, when it was more of a “better luck next time” thing.

I am having an excellent Christmas, kids. But I need to submit the rest of my stuff. :)

I remember December 30 last year. So much fun.

I have a million things to write.

Tomorrow.

Applying EA to four schools does relieve some of the stress though. It just meant that the week of October 25 was complete hell instead of the week of December 27.

I can imagine. I applied SCEA to one selective school, and none of the stress is relieved for me. :)

You all are being the opposite of helpful.

A MILLION THINGS TO WRITE. A MILLION. I think I’ll be fine, but still. Plus I have homework. Good grief.

I’m going to write my Chicago essay as a straight up story. Why? Because I’m tired and I have nothing interesting to say about my exciting, unique, intellectually curious personality. Or just because I feel like it.

I’m pretty sure that the admissions office at UChicago wants you to write an essay that makes you appear to be clinically insane. All the essays they rave about are completely insane.

I’m insane.

I’ve got my general Why X hammered out, now I have to personalize each of them. Plus write Pomona’s “Write about something fun!” essay and a bunch of short answers.

I haven’t died. Yet.

…

Holy crap, I’m done.

Whoa. Awesome job. Procrastination really does pay. I learned this a few weeks ago when I finished my two final papers each half an hour before they were due.

Many of my friends have had great success with writing papers while drunk. Perhaps that would have spiced up your essays just a little.

I really just used the same three basic essays, I just changed the names and spliced and diced.

If I was drunk I wouldn’t have had good vocabulary, but maybe next time. You know, I feel like adding more colleges now, since I wouldn’t have to do anything else. But oh well, who cares? I’m going to UT anyway.

Of course.

I don’t know about the vocabulary thing. I’ve heard drunk people at UChicago use the words “gregarious,” “verbose,” “homeostasis,” and “serendipity” correctly. And you’d be a lot more confident in what you’re writing…

So the payment things went all wonky so I had to email the common app people. But still, I AM DONE.

Now all I have to do is read Frankenstein and write 3 pages on it and study 3 bio chapters and memorize a packet. But I don’t care, since grades don’t count anymore. Go me.

My New Year’s resolution is to stop double posting.

But don’t hold me to it.

It’s quite refreshing to see someone else use “wonky.” Now I don’t feel like a crazy weirdo.

I could be reading my fancy new philosophy book.

I only started using wonky after Hermione said wonky faint. Shut up.

Since you want to know:
UTenn-Knoxville - Already accepted, but I reeeeeally am holding out.
Scripps
Pomona
Stanford - My last minute addition
Harvard
UChicago - I have a good feeling about this one, my essays weren’t half bad, I think.
Vanderbilt
Rice
Northwestern
NYU
Columbia - number one times a bajillion

My parents are all “UTK is so cheap!!!111 You should go there!!!11” So for god’s sake, I need to get in anywhere else, which is why my list is so reach-heavy. Except, I’m second-guessing all my ‘intellectual’ choices since I’m kind of lazy, like you don’t even know. But oh well, I’m not going to think about this anymore until March 31.

That list is awesome sauce.

I don’t remember when I started using wonky. It was sometime after I heard a Brit say “bloody wonky.” Perhaps it was an AT&T commercial? Grr. I usually remember when I learn weird words.

Everything about me is awesome sauce. Except in April, when I get 10 rejection letters.

Everytime I go to Walmart I get a doughnut.

You should get a loaf of bread instead. Half a loaf of bread is an awesome afternoon snack.

And coffee.

You’re in at NYU, Rice, Vandy, Northwestern, and Scripps for sure. No worries.
