The Cafe Watering Hole: PART DEUX

DON’T JINX IT I don’t believe in for sures.

Coffee is gross. I can only drink the cold frappucino something or other at Starbucks.

But coffee is sooooo good. If you drink black espresso, you’ll come to love coffee a lot faster. They won’t let you into Columbia or UChicago if you don’t drink coffee. Jus’ sayin’.

I’ll drink tea. I got that alt hipster thing going.

So it’s 2010. I’m graduating. I’m getting out of this cow town. I might even ride an airplane. Dreaming big, see.

You’ve never been on an airplane? I’m glad there are some of those people left. My first flight was when I was 17, when I went to Spain. And I’ve only been on a total of four flights now, all for that one trip.

My parents drove everywhere. The furthest west I’ve been is Branson, north Buffalo, and south Orlando. Shameful.

Yeah, my parents just really don’t travel at all. Aside from my trip to Spain, I’ve been west to Lincoln, NE; north to…Ann Arbor, MI, I guess; east to some hick town in south-central Pennsylvania; and south to Memphis. This is why my parents flew off the wall when I applied to Princeton.

I just applied to all of my schools except Columbia. wooooo

Wait a minute. WAIT A MINUTE. We’re going to Columbia together? I mean, providing that I’m waitlisted instead of rejected.

Haha, look at me, ignoring my inevitable.

They’re such an unbelievable pain in the ass with their separate application and all.

Today, I applied to Brown and completed their ridiculous behemoth of a supplement. In total, my application there is 16 pages. By Jove, right?

Right. Where did you apply?

Doctor Who has been on all day. <3

In the US, just Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Brown, and almost Columbia. My Canadian list is where all of my safeties are, because it just ain’t worth it to cross the border for peanuts.

My Columbia app is finished. I’m waiting until tomorrow to submit because I make careless mistakes when I’m tired.

Also, is it ironic that I used a printed out sheet of the Princeton supplement as scrap paper on which to write my Why Columbia? essay? lol.

I found a typo on my common app, and the list of colleges I applied to on my Hahvahd supplement was cut off on the print preview but I didn’t notice.

So yeah. Nothing doing, I suppose.

Chicago is going to see something hilarious tomorrow when a skinny white boy drags a heavy suitcase and a heavy backpack halfway across the city. I’m currently devising methods to not get mugged.

That does sound hilarious. Use a vocoder to sound all T-Painy and then no one will attack you, since you’d sound so badass. Or something like that.

So I’m going to do my homework when this Doctor Who marathon is over. Good thing no school on Monday, I suppose.

I have school on Monday, damnit.

There is no list of colleges you’re applying to on the Harvard supplement… is there? If there is, I COMPLETELY MISSED IT AND SUBMITTED AN INCOMPLETE SUPPLEMENT.

In other news, I applied to Columbia.

My bad, it was Rice. But yeah, I listed all the other colleges I was applying to but I used hard returns, so it cut off after fourth one. Which isn’t necessarily bad, since my list is kind of long. I suppose I can email them, but I don’t think they’ll care.

On your Columbia app did you talk about how awesome Tennizzlers are?

I’m breaking my New Year’s resolution to tell you all that I keep getting texts from some organization trying to get me to go to parties at clubs in Chicago.

Well I thought it was funny.

LOL.

I sincerely hope you exploited your status as Tennizzler in your apps. Because I know this kid from the Yale forum who got in, and it was honestly because s/he was from Wyoming. I swear to God.

Though, in a way, I am a unique Canadian, because I’m white and not Asian.

Do you want to read my Why X essays? I kind of did exploit it, but then I didn’t.

But. You’re the only Canadian. You’re Canada. And anyway, Dick Cheney is from Wyoming and only like 500,000 people live there, so s/he’s probably related to him.

Except that Dick Cheney is a d-uche.

Why X essays are so fun. I basically played mad libs with all of mine.
