The Cafe Watering Hole: PART DEUX

My class spent a ridiculous amount of time on the different types of equilibrium. It’s a pretty big deal.

Quantum mechanics is so fascinating in that it explains everything. They should teach it to freshman. Everything about chemistry just makes so much more sense when you understand quantum mechanics.

My teacher just gives us problem sets and lets us do whatever and we have quizzes at the end of the week.

I’m rusty in most scientific pursuits.

My teacher spent four weeks trying to get us to memorize polyatomic ions. We had to make flashcards for a grade.

My teacher is really good, so that probably helps. We only spent a class on polyatomic ions and we had short weekly quizzes on them until everyone started doing well.

I learned polyatomic ions in 8th grade.

Rilo Kiley fo sho.

I can’t wait to have good teachers at UChicago. I’ve had relatively few of them at my school. They’re all nice and of sane mind, so they’re not too bad, but they just don’t teach enough.

I personally think that forcing flashcards isn’t an effective teaching strategy.

French Russian Chinese French Russian Chinese.

Russian fo sho.

I didn’t even know about the octet rule in grade 8. Ridic.

I have four days of freedom. During which I will spend at least 10 hours working on a ridiculous video project. And the rest of which I will spend reading about existentialism and organic chemistry.

Rilo Kiley sucks.

NO. CANADA IS FULL OF LIES. I like Rilo Kiley.

The Office is on.

Y’all sound like a bunch of nerds, just to state the obvi.

PS: DVR, yellow, w t f?

Fine, Jolie. I can talk about nonnerdy things. Pick a topic.

Ooh. I want in on this.

But French. Je voudrais une baguette, s’il vous pla

What sort of Chinese food have you been eating that comes with gravy?

The Office is something.

Well, it’s sauce. It has the consistency of gravy. Chinese food in rural Ohio is just gross. I ate Chinese when I was in Chicago, and it was waaaaaaaay better. But I’m still not sold.

Oh.

There are many more Asians here than one would expect. But just here, not the rest of Tennizzle.

I remember seeing a few Asians in Nashville.

Toledo has quite a few Asians, but they all live in the same suburb, and they generally don’t venture out to these here parts.

Oh.

Ryan’s hair is ridiculous.

Come to think of it, I think I saw an Asian woman in Walmart last week. Strange.

I don’t think I’m helping the nonnerdiness.

No. Quite the opposite. But it’s okay, because Chicago will love you anyway.

There are tons of Asians here. Just like there are tons of people from basically every nationality. You know, multiculturalism. And Canada.

You’d have to learn a new script and a grammatical system that is extremely different from both English and Spanish. And don’t forget the insufferable declensions.

French is like a tougher version of Spanish. So I would suggest you learn that. Russian would be more challenging, but still feasible, while Chinese would require a ridiculous amount of work (which you might not be able to put in while in college). Stuff to consider.
