The Cafe Watering Hole: PART DEUX

An hour each, but you’ll have plenty of time, they aren’t overly long.

Wolverine better be good.

I’m only taking history tomorrow. Lazy.

I wanted to see Wolverine tonight but my plans fell through which is sort of a good thing I guess. I studied.

Nah, it’s a good decision. Two or three in a day kind of sucks.

Heart-carved tree trunk, Yankee bayonet
A sweetheart left behind
Far from the hills of the sea-swelled Carolinas
That’s where my true love lies

Hmmm? What kind of character? I’m probably a stock character.

I came up with an ingenious college essay topic, and now I can’t remember.

730 on test 3.

I will not get a 2400. I’m happy with my 2270.

You should aim for an even 2620.

I agree. And a 48 ACT.

What AP exams are you taking?

apush, calc ab, chem, and Latin Vergil.

7, 2, 2, 3.

Latin Virgil sounds both insulting and demeaning.

Good luck, America.

Your insistence on the spelling Virgil demonstrates your lack of Latin knowledge. But you’re right.

Good luck, Canada.

So Vergil is the Latin spelling? That has bothered me for ages.

I just learned that the Audi headquarters is in Ingolstadt, which is where Victor Frankenstein created his monster. Hmm.

In the middle ages Vergil was referred to as Virgil, deriving from the Latin word virga, meaning wand…like magic wand. I don’t remember why, though.

Someone who graduated from my school a couple of years ago got a perfect grade on her extended essay, and she wrote it about the role of “the perverse creator” in Oryx and Crake and in Frankenstein.

Frankenstein is really rather dry. It has an interesting plot for the most part, but the events are spread out over mountains of rambling text.

I got a 4 on AP Lit last year, and I wrote the crappiest essays of all time. I especially bombed the poetry essay. And I only got a 600 on the SAT II. That means that you have the power to get 7s on all your AP tests, not just APUSH.

Haha. APUSH would be an interesting ordeal at my school. The lone history teacher is rather incompetent.

I for serious will get twos on everything.

SAT chem was super easy. It was mostly simple stoichiometry, really. I didn’t know the answer to maybe two or three questions, but I could always eliminate 2-3 answer choices, so I think I did well.

… doesn’t anybody think French is important anymore (minus French speaking countries)?! haha. I have to register for classes, and I really want to take French but… )':

I’m taking French next year in college. I was going to take Chinese, and then I really thought about it. I have no desire to live in China, but living in Europe is my dream. I also find French more interesting, and I already know Spanish. So I’m not taking Chinese just because all the experts say I should.

Your “simple stoichiometry” is far more advanced than any I studied in my chemistry class.

History wasn’t bad. An Asian girl accosted me in the bathroom and spouted off about how she probably failed her chem test and that her mom would kill her.

Accosted.
