The Cafe Watering Hole: PART DEUX

Reading an obscenely long book in a foreign language saves me from being bored.

I’m going to read La Peste by Camus and Madame Bovary by Flaubert in French, this summer. That will be the extent of my foreign language reading.

Alas, but that is not a foreign language for you. At least, you know French better than I know Spanish.

I liked Madame Bovary. I think I’m going to read it again. I bet it’s much better in French, though.

Ugh. That reminds me. French (now also German) Russian Chinese.

Polish. Italian. Gaelic. Afrikaans. Korean.

You’re not helping.

My ingenious idea is really just a clever device. But clever.

I’ve got to start my homework. And write my screenplay. SO MUCH TO DO.

Whenever I had homework that I couldn’t start, I used to stack it on top of my laptop.

Do you get to use your computer while you’re in the hospital? Do they have wireless?

I couldn’t really stack homework on top of my computer. Because it’s a desktop. But I do stack homework on my desk, I swear.

I have an article for our resident trilingual IB student.

I can read ten pages of *Cien a

This year, I did a huuuge stats project on a study within my school on a possible relationship between language and intelligence. That article would’ve been an excellent source if it was written like 7 months in advance.

Also, my ToK teacher loves Edge.

TMI.

I’m reading Crime and Punishment (I fully wrote Crime and Prejudice first, rofl) and it takes me really long too. I can read like 10-15 pages in an hour, and I can’t really figure out why. My book has small-ish print, and it’s ridiculously descriptive, so…

I have to read Crime and Punishment.

Have to or want to? It’s very strange.

Happy Canada Day, America.

For some reason, Crime and Punishment took me forever as well. I got really distracted reading it, as the paragraphs were so long. And *Cien a

It’s part of my homework. I’ve read it before, though.

YES. MOST TRUEST THING EVER.

I’m headed to the capital/capitol tomorrow to see stuff blown up. Any requests you want me to pass along to the president?

Um. Something about gay marriage and abortion. And that I think I saw him in Transformers, but I’m not sure.

I saw Transformers today and there was a whole row of soldiers in uniform below me, and I wager approximately 3/4 of the theater was retired military. I wasn’t expecting the movie to be so military-y. I thought it was funny and a little awkward. My dad said something about the actors holding the guns wrong, and it bothered me that they weren’t wearing helmets. But still. It was awesome. And I wrote an awful lot about Transformers, jesus.

HOOAH. Tell the prez that too.

Will do, will do. I’ll probably just be shouting it at the fence.

Transformers=suck.

Watch Moon and Man on Wire. Now.

I made a common app account. It is not a pretty website, by any means. And UChicago’s essay topics for this year are something of a crapshoot. “Why did (or didn’t…) you get caught?” Okay.

Today I learned how to lyse cells for the purpose of protein extraction and quantification. It was fun.
