No one cares, unless it’s on the day of the Big Game.

Does anyone, who has taken Chem 1A, have any thoughts on the teachers? stacy, majda and arnold?

I’m an incoming freshman, but maybe you’d find PickAProf and Campus Buddy helpful. ![]()

Just search for their classes, see what people have to say about them, grade distributions, etc. :)

My son got a 2 on one of his AP Tests. Should he withold it? It’s not in English or math… or his major…

^ Why would it matter? They don’t look at AP scores in admissions…he just won’t get AP credit.

Yes, Birdhouse you are right. I checked – the 2 score doesn’t show up on Bear Facts… I was fretting about nothing…

Does anyone know if professors release the books they’ll teach for R&C classes before telebears? Out of curiosity, I checked the books for RCB classes I might take next year, and I’ve read a lot of the books they’re teaching. I know the books will change next semester, but I don’t really want to take a class and reread books. Thanks.

They generally stay the same each year the instructor teaches the course. You can look up syllabuses on the department website if you’re lucky otherwise you can always look it up at the Cal Bookstore online. Often times, I’ve found that there are just readers instead of books.

QuixoticRick: Thanks for your help. :)

Another question: How can you apply a breadth to a certain class? For example, a class I’m taking can apply to Arts and Lit and Historical Studies. Would I be able to use the class for Arts/Lit instead of Historical (on my DARS report it’s for Historical Studies). Thank you!

it depends on the dept, german for example used ~3 books and m instructor used diff ones for her 2 sections that she was teaching in the same semester

Arduous: Just take another course that qualifies for historical studies and it’ll automatically change it to be arts and literature.

What’s the CHEAPEST way to live at Cal? Details on food, books, and housing? Please and thanks :)

This question is to admitted students who attended one school in freshman year, and moved to another school for the last three years. On the Transcripts Status page, do you see both of your schools on the list?

If you had your old school mail your transcript say two weeks ago, do you also see both of your schools?

To all current students:

I signed up for near eastern studies r1b with loepp and psychology 1 with simon thomas. I’m taking a total of 7 units. Do any current berkeley students know if this is a lot of work to handle over 6 weeks?

I’m thinking of taking
CS 170
EE 20N
Math 110
Math 113

in the fall.
I’ve taken Math 172 so 110/113 aren’t my first upper divs. But is 2 math classes too much? Paulin is teaching 113; RateMyProfs says he’s pretty difficult.
Is this too hard? I’m hoping to have more free time than I do this semester (read: some free time).
Anyone hear anything about Perrson?

so what exactly is this Cal bar thing anyway?

A place where prospective students come to drink. Virtually. And instead of alcohol it’s knowledge. I guess.

drink virtual knowledge…woah…

enlightened water…instead of fire water?

what the!

0_0

and virtual to boast.

Is the Berkeley Extension course for Math 1B equivalent to Math 1B? Will I be able to take this extension course instead of my cc’s equivalent to Math 1B?

Does anyone rent textbooks, is this superior to buying them? To me it seems like a no brainer to rent them at places like Chegg, since it saves a boatload of money, and yet I always hear about people buying books…is there something I’m missing?

Also, when and how do I sign up for Decals? My orientation is June 4-5, and I know that’s when I sign up for classes. But the listing for Decals hasn’t come out yet so I’m not sure if I’ll be able to sign up then.
