What about religion on campus? I’ve been sort of turned off by my present university (UNC) because so many students here are ridiculously religious. Will an atheist fit in at Cal?

laneb: yes, yes, yes. imo if anyone would feel awkward (and I don’t think anyone would), it’d be a fervent christian not an atheist.

what percentage of sophomores still live in dorms?

not many, i’d say less than half, most of the people i know who are freshman are NOT going to live in the dorms next semester

Probably less than a quarter, and most of them are in suites, or are RAs.

Of course. This atheistic organization meets on-campus, for example.

just out of curiousity: for papers in college, do you single or double-space them? or 1.5?

double…

Depends. 90% of my papers ask for double-spacing. Very very rarely, I’ll get a paper where I’m given the option to go 1.5 or 1.

Hey guys,

Any advice - which player is optimum for Berkeley webcasts? Are they in the form of videos or just mp3 files? I suppose I’m trying to decide between Creative Zen and the iPod, really. Thanks!

I’ve got a few questions.

I’m planning to AP out of Math IB and I’m doing EECS, but I’m going to do FPF. How do I petition to take Math 53?

What do I select as a math class when I submit my course selection sheet?

What R&C class should I take if I don’t have any AP lit credit, I’m planning to pass the AWPE, and my SAT writing wasn’t a 680+?

Do I have to send my SAT scores if my SAT writing wasn’t a 680+?

What’s a good breadth course to take in FPF?

What’s fun to do around Cal?

I have to mail in a form to the financial aid office in order to verify that i have a sibling that will be going to college next year, and the form asks for my student ID#. I was wondering if you get that only after you submit your SIR. If thats not the case, where can i find the number?

Does it snow in Berkeley ever?

Maybe once every 10 years or so. Berkeley is pretty low elevation-wise. It doesn’t snow much anywhere in the East Bay.

hi im an incoming freshman wondering whether or not to attend CalSO (orientation). do classes for engineers get filled up rather quickly or will attending a later date of CalSO be fine? i’m stuck between attending the first date for engineers (june 11-12) and the first date for southern california which a couple days after

Quick Question:

Are the 200+ courses for graduate students and are primarily not intended for the undergrads? (talking specifically about the econ courses)

I’m #150 on a waitlist in a lecture of 550 or so, but there are still lab sections open for me to sign up. Does that mean I’m in the class?

TheRighteous - no, it means you’re on the waitlist. They might open up more spots later and 150 is alright.

dhl3 - at least for the math dept, undergrads who plan on going to grad school are advised to take grad classes.

Where’s the best place to get Cal gear? I need to start to stock up on my shirts and hoodies.

t-shirt orgy!

dhl3-- in mcb and chem bio and physics, they encourage advanced students to take grad level courses. you have to finish pre-requisite courses and get instructors’ approval. just a little warning tho, these grad level courses can damp your GPA a little.
