The Class of 2010 ED Thread/Roster

If you already know you’re applying ED… let’s get to know each other! Because a third of us will be going to school together come fall next year!

I’ll start: My name’s Marli and I go to a pretty good public school in California. I loooove chemistry, calculus, drama (esp. Tennessee Williams and Oscar Wilde), and journalism. I’m politically moderate to conservative, and I’m Protestant. I <3 hazelnut coffee and hazelnut chocolates, but I normally get my caffeine from tea. I want to learn Greek! Um… that’s me in a nutshell. How about you?

I like your screen name :)

Hehe thanks; it was the name of my first website, and it’s stuck with me since. http://frozen.snowcovered-dreams.net

Aww cute '10ers. I wish you the best of luck and I hope you have as great an ED family as I had last year.

Ditto to what zante said. I’m not gonna lie, though; y’all have a lot to live up to

I had a great Yale EA family…but after a slight slaughter, we went our own ways. I’m so glad that I have a new family. :)

My Harvard EA family was…oh yeah, that’s right - nonexistent :p

Haha we have like, double the number of posts of any other Ivy forum.

Yay for P-ton! If you look at the old CC on discus, you’ll see that we had fewer than most other Ivies.

Goes to show that it’s really the people that make a difference. We had quite a momentum going. That’s why I hope you’re as lucky to have a great group. Those ED days were crazy

my friends call me margopolo. i go to a public high school in southern cal where people like to buy chanel glasses for hundreds of dollars and then wear them to school. personally, i just wear my dad’s old shades. aviators=unisex so no xaccesorizing there. i like history, english, relatively suck at math, playing and listening to music. i also like mango flavored drinks and my hero is a double-decker bus. my favorite recent movie is hotel rwanda. recent=last 6 months since the days are fast. yay for ed!

hotel rwanda i agree was madddd nice movie
but my favorite woudl have to be
haha either fight club or harold and kumar go to white castle
and as for sunglasses and such - if it fits and looks nice - i wear it

and im doing ed to princeton lets go 2010

All right 2010! =D

Movies… I don’t really get to go out and see them that often. I don’t drive yet… sigh. But my favorite movies are probably either A Beautiful Mind or October Sky. Or Saving Private Ryan…

As for sunglasses… I have a comfortable pair of DKNY shades. <33s At my school there’s this trend going on with gigantic sunglasses that cover, like, half your face. I don’t really get it…

come on, people!

btw im indian wanna go into medicine
and pretty conservative id say - or like moderate
can i be a conservative democrat something likethat

I’m applying ED to princeton, and want to major in molecular biology. Hope to see you all there in the fall of 2006.

haha yeah a lot of my friends are conservative democrats. or conservative conservatives. or flaming liberals. tehse days you can be anything. i am pretty left leaning and not religious. i am also interested in taking theology classes now that i think about it. you know vegan food is relaly good even though i’m not vegan. and i had to doubletake the time magazine issue with mao on teh cover, because i’m so bad at chinese i couldn’t tell at first that LV LV LV was all over his “shirt” and not…something else.

Right now I’m torn between Pton ED and MIT EA. Not sure if I want to commit to a school before knowing what my fin aid will look like. If I apply regular, I’ll also be applying to Stanford, MIT, Ga Tech, Florida Tech, and Ga Tech.

About me:
I consider myself Libertarian, but find myself agreeing with Democrats most often these days. There’s something hypocritical about being a Republican against big government spending while at the same time running up the deficit like there’s no tomorrow.

Agnostic, until convinced otherwise.

Favorite subject is math, but I’m considering aerospace engineering for my major. Still haven’t decided.

I work in a bookshop, and read all kinds of non-fiction. I view most fiction books as a waste of time.

I HATE hurricanes… especially this one.

Hamster, this is a little OT, but my friend going to MIT next fall is required by the school to get one of several specific MIT-approved laptops… which for me wouldn’t be a good thing if I wound up at MIT, because I just bought a new Sony Vaio {hearts} that I plan to take through college. (My old computers were so decrepit that I feared opening PDFs – how am I supposed to do my apps to begin with?)

So… if you’re thinking about going to MIT, you might want to factor in the cost of a new $1,400+ laptop, unless you already have one (they list acceptable ones on their site, I think.) And if you just bought a new computer like I did, then ouch.

Btw, Zante, most of those MIT-approved computers have the same specs as our Vaios do… and the Dells are more expensive than our Vaios were. =P It’s probably because they require the students to buy 3 years of technical support, which is provided by MIT… which is probably totally superfluous anyway because… you’re at MIT.
