It could be me; I break out into dance often.

Although this question has nothing to do with Princeton itself, I wanted to see if any of you are entering the INTEL STS competition this year and, if so, how your projects are coming along. I only started this summer after my science research coordinator “recruited” me. I went to Hofstra University where I completed some research on the assembly and application of a gel permeation chromatograph to determine the molecular weight profile of Polyvinyl Acetate samples. That was basically my summer, and I just wanted to see what you others were up to if it dealt with research.

I also want to know if any potential ED’ers play any varsity sports. As a full year athlete, I want to make sure that my potential classmates are going to be interested in sports.

No, I don’t think any of my research will have significant results by the deadline of Intel – I haven’t even started yet, though I am excited! (Working with landfill gases on a grant won by a sponsor.) However, it all hinges on whether my school will let me drop AP Stats to do it.

And again, no, I’m not a varsity athlete. It’s going to be years (decades?) before naginata becomes a varsity sport.

Hey, but since Trampoline has fairly recently become an event in the Summer Olympics, we never know, do we? :p

Princeton has been favorite school for as long as I can remember.

I sent them my SAT (plz don’t freak out…it’s not about my stats/chances lol) each time I took them. However, they didn’t have my file back then. Is it okay, or would I need to pay collegeboard to send them again after I have submitted my application.

Also, is it okay if teacher recommendation arrives in their office before I submit my forms?

For all you ED’ers, is it a much better idea to fill out the Princeton application rather than the Common App with the supplement? I can’t see there being a huge difference between the two or Princeton wouldn’t have agreed to join the common app in the first place, but I need some advice as to how significant the difference to admissions is.

Sports are basically my life :p

Four years varsity soccer, four years varsity indoor track, four years varsity outdoor track. Captain of all three with some all-conference/all-county stuff. Also i’ve played club soccer since, well, forever. lol.

I’m writing to the Princeton track coach soon to see if i could run there. (based on my times, i think i could, but i’m not fast enough to actually be heavily recruited. :() I Love Track!!! :D

What sports do you play, Wayman? (oh, and there was a thread a week ago about the common app vs. princeton app… we pretty much decided there was no difference.)

Annandale - i think that if you’ve already sent them your scores, you should be fine :)

I’ve done varsity cross country and varsity spring track throughout my high school career, but I’m not incredibly talented in either because I’m primarily a sprinter and I am white, you make the conclusion. Besides some all-division awards as well as meet medals, my abilities would not allow me to be on the Princeton teams. I also played JV bball my first two years, served as the captain in 10th. However, last year my back gave out before the season and I joined the varsity swim team to strengthen it. I may end up doing swimming again this year, which I find to be incredibly enjoyable and far less grueling than basketball. And thank you for updating me about the app question since I, among all others, need to start this application process sooner than later.

Wayman - there’s a thread called something like “Princeton app. vs. Common app.” you should check it out.

As far as my opinion goes, I don’t think it matters. But it seems that some people think Princeton app is better as far as chances of getting in goes, but no one seems to think that about common app. So unless the essay questions on common app allow you to present yourself much better, I’d go for Princeton app…just to not go “oh my god i shoulda used princeton app…that’s about the only reason I can think of for not getting in” lol…

Hey guys! I’m another Princeton ED hopeful. I’m from somewhere called Alpine, TX (look it up, seriously), and I had no idea there was a place i could actually talk to people i might be in school with next year! Ok, anyway, a little bit more about me:
Age: 16 (Graduating a year early)
Height: 5’1" (Just so you know)
SAT: Writing-750; Math-750; Verbal-780
ACT: 33 (but i’m retaking both tests this October)
SAT II: Will take Literature, Math I, and Spanish in October, too.
Rank: 1/68 (But as of now i can’t be Valedictorian, even though my Average is 9 pts. higher than 2nd place, b/c I didn’t technically complete both my Jr. and Sr. years since i’m leaving early.)
Extracurriculars: Martial Arts- Green Belt, working on Brown; Debate- 8th in State as sophomore, 1st in every other competiton i’d been in. Theater- best actress twice; some other stuff
Significant Challenge: Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyneuropathy (i lose function/feeling in my extremities periodically, and its **** recouperating!)
OK, so there’s my life in a nutshell! I really look forward to getting to know you all. Princeton all the way!

does anyone of you guys like “Lost”

anyone into Harry Potter series?

anyone saw and liked Wedding Crashers?

Omg, I’m obsessed with both Lost and Harry Potter! As for Wedding Crashers, it never came to our two screen movie theater here, so i didn’t see it unfortunately…
BTW, you probably have no idea who i am yet! HaHa

I’ve run v. xc for 2 years, v. indoor track coming 4th year, and v. outdoor track coming 3rd year…didn’t run frosh year cuz i broke my ankle hurdling…eumm… haha so there, if you call running a sport.

Wedding Crashers was incredibly funny. My favorite part for some reason was when Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson (I forget their character names) were in a church ceremony and Vince was making the comments about the girl across the room who was eye-f****** the s*** out of him. The funniest movie I’ve seen all summer hands-down, yet I still haven’t seen 40 year old virgin.

hahaha 40 year old virgin. i’d just have to say it’s a guy humor movie. don’t watch it unless you have a pretty wide knowledge of sexual innuendos.

Then the movie is definitely for me. The next step they should take is to document the life of a real man who is nearing the age of 40 without ever having sex. I mean, there have to many men out there who are in that situation.

short n sweet…lost is really good. i didn’t watch it during teh year, but i’ve been watching it over the summer and i like it a lot.

Harry Potter = Life :D

And Wedding Crashers has to be the FUNNIEST movie i have ever seen. Besides, of course, Monty Python and the Holy Grail…

Risky Business is right up there, and as an added bonus it’s about getting into Princeton.

Harry Potter… blah…
I used to <3 the books so much, but after I accidentally got the spoiler for OotP before I read it, I was sooooooooooo angry at JKR that I didn’t read it. And I haven’t read this latest, either. And I refuse to see the movies. Unless she brings Sirius back. huff
