The Class of 2010 ED Thread/Roster

hello, add me please! :)

Orbit - Engineers are required to do a senior thesis. However, it doesn’t have to be a paper. My admissions officer told me that someone last year built a solar powered car for their senior thesis. :)

Hey everyone. My name’s George and I’m from a private school in California. I like pandas and children with British accents and my favorite TV show, by far, is Invader Zim. I saw Princeton in August and absolutely loved it, so I’m applying ED.

Politically, I’m pretty socially liberal and moderately economically conservative. So I guess I would be closest to a libertarian, but not the extreme kind. Like a very mild strain of libertarian.

So it seems like most people on this website take the SAT. Who else really prefers the ACT? Also, am I the only one who’s filling out the princeton app (not the common)?

Hey George, glad to have you on CC.

I think the trend is that East-Coast students prefer SATs. I live in NJ, and most of my friends haven’t heard of/don’t care about ACTs. On the other hand, a friend of mine from IL tells me that ACTs are held in far higher regard over there. Not sure about CA, though. I assumed it was SAT country.

As for Pton app, no, you’re not alone. I’m doing it too.

i think they “designed” it…but I could be wrong.

http://www.■■■■■■■■.net/images/newusmap.gif

this sums up SAT vs ACT states (SAT in green)

At my school, most people take both. Many of them prefer the SAT though because they find the science section really intimidating. Also, my school offers SAT prep classes but no ACT prep classes, so that shows some bias I guess. I thought the ACT was much less exhausting, with the exception of the essay, which was way too specific.

i like the ACT a lot better.

you don’t have to switch back and forth between sections. the essay is at the end, no “distracters”, no penalty for wrong answers.

I did better on ACT than the SAT

hey! i’m steve, from missouri. add me to the ED list- i’m almost done with the app, and princeton is amazing.

add me too! i’m ray, from singapore and seem to be one of very few internationals applying ED to princeton on this forum… i’ve lurking around (ugh i sound like a crocodile) for some time before i finally decided to apply ED to princeton, which seems wonderful though it would be much better if i could visit the school personally.

and i think SAT’s the only one available in singapore so i have no idea if ACT is a better deal. most singaporeans are quite happy with SAT since it’s at least quite a bit easier than A levels here.

hey i sound a lot like you-- except i would never do premed. hope you get in

nm that was meant for someone else. but i’m ED also…kind of on a whim actually. we’ll see

I suppose I should add myself. I’ll add wishmeluck too, so that my number will be a perfect ACT score.

Hey, I’m Ankur and I’m applying ED to Princeton as well… I live in the Sultanate of Oman (yeah… the MIddle East!)…

Just a general query…I was just wondering would Princeton recognise my achievements in atheletics although in a sport not played out there … Because I represented my country in cricket

yeah, definitely include that! You can’t be recruited for it, but it’s certainly unique. ;)

Oman has a cricket team? lol- you guys sooo need to play a few tests against us!

chekmeout - yes, the experience of being selected and then having to perform at a top level will stay with you through your life and Princeton will value that.

OK Kjoodles, I am out of touch with cricket but who won the Ashes this year? :p

wow… I’ve been reluctant to add my name to this, but I think I’ll give in…

I’m John… from upstate NY. I just visited Princeton today, and even though it was raining like a freaking monsoon, I totally was able to fall in love with Princeton. Now I see why everyone is always so ga-ga over this school. I have no doubt that it’s the best all-around school in the world, and even though my chances of getting in are very slim, I’m gonna savor these few months of ignorance before the dreaded letter comes and do all I can to boost my chances. You all know how it is…

So anyway, inerested in studying history, but not sure about careers, and I love Seinfeld… funniest show ever made. I like to think I’m open minded to new things, but I guess I’ll need to go to college to test that statement. I wish there was more to say, but apparently I’m an extremely vapid person at the moment.

oh yeah. I forgot…
