The Class of 2010 ED Thread/Roster

Ashes ? What ashes … I hear nothing about ashes … Lies … LIES … BLATENT LIES … ummm … we didn’t lose the ashes … they merely borrowed them for 3 years … i swear

chekmeout- anything you do to that level is good and should be viewed as a plus. You could always go there and start the Princeton Cricket Club!

We did beat the World XI twice this week so there … :p

Lol Kjoodles… You might be interested in knowing I was backing England all the way!!
Flintoff & Pietersen are my fav’s and I really wanted to see an end to the Australian monopoly…

Kjoodles, if you and I make it, we definitely MUST start a Pton cricket club! I lived in India for 10 years and was a die-hard cricket fan (still am), but it’s harder to play it here.

I think the only school with a varsity cricket team is Haverford.

Here’s to cricket, the best sport out there! And hopefully, the next sport team at Pton! :D

Hello everybody,

After a long tussle debating whether or not to apply ED,( time was a big factor) I finally decided I am applying to Princeton ED.

I am a British Citizen, born in Birmingham, UK, Indian by race and lived in Singapore for 14 years. I love sports, especially Football (Soccer to you) and Cricket. I am a cynic, love to laugh, love to eat, am a lazy bum. I most look forward to a proper education in University, where I can discover myself by taking courses I want to take, unlike the A levels ( which are in 1 MONTH !!!) where I am suffering. I plan to take Econs, i think. Def BA not BSE.

So i have yet to start my application, and I really need to study for my freakin A levels. Is it a bit late, are you guys finished/halfway thru already? What’s everybody’s status with applications?

Cheers and all the best to everybody,
Ahluwalia

I am Pakistani-American, and know about cricket too
this is weird…so many cricket-knowing/loving people applying.

We second the notion of starting a cricket club. At least we can watch World Cup matches, so like some important tournament like Pakistan vs India or Ashes. We also try intramurals.

i have to start my application (well, essays) yet too.

So it’s not impossible…it’s definitely doable. I also have my Extended Essay and Historical Investigation due in next two weeks.

hmph. well i don’t like cricket.

though perhaps that’s because i don’t know how to play…

but if it’s anything like baseball, i’ll hate it anyway :p

Koala, it’s faaaaaar better than baseball. In fact, it’s far better than anything. Ever. With the possible exception of Princeton, of course.

Annandale1, yeah, that’d be pretty cool. I tried to start one at my high school, but it got too complicated :(.

ahluwalia, it’s tough, but possible. Is the international deadline also 11/1?

Yes, I’ve found it hard to explain the rules of cricket to my friends…we tried playing once, and the leaders of the match (myself and a Pakistani friend of mine) gave up and simplified it to bowling to a player and running to catch the ball before it hit the sidewalk.
By the way, I still abhor and am confused by baseball.

…and go Indian cricket :)

Baseball is… long… let’s just say that. :p

compare to a test match in cricket…it is so not long.

A test match lasts five days (correct me if I am wrong, don’t know much about test matches).

I rarely watch cricket…like once in two years or so. And I only watch One Day International (ODIs) matches. Even then I tend to watch the first and last ten overs…I am so ADD…lol

Dang…I’ve never seen the game before, but I’m not sure I want to now… perhaps just that one day international whatever thing… so Douglass Adams wasn’t exaggerating THAT much huh?

There is a new form of the game being tried out, called Twenty20. It is 40% of the length of a One Day International…

Well, ODIs are pretty cool time wise. I, too, can’t stand watching test matches (though the highlights are okay), but the ODI lasts for ~7 (+/- 1) hours (with ads, break, everything). That’s just perfect if you want to spend a day watching cricket.

The recent ODI series with Australia versus the World XI really dented any attempt I had prep myself for the SAT… and it wasn’t even a good match- we just steamrolled the opposition. I still prefer to watch soccer or rugby though- just because they don’t take up as much of your time!

Its a good thing I’m also applying to Cambridge as well ;)

it was a great comeback after the Ashes loss…great job by Watson

I think Watson’s getting somewhat overrated. He got a few wickets but if look closely the bowling wasn’t all that exceptional- it was batsmen going all out trying to hit 6’s or boundaries that got him the wickets. Having said that his batting is quite good although I wouldn’t mind seeing him evolve into a more bowling all-rounder than a batting all-rounder.

To those that don’t follow cricket and have no idea what im talking about- sorry but I can’t hide my obsession for sports! :D

btw- I like Flintoff. He’s actually a man … unlike the captain Vaughn- such a sissy … grrrrrrr … so *****y as well … grrrrrr

i guess you’re right. On the brit side in the Ashes, Flintoff was in awesome form. probably the best allrounder i’ve ever seen.

Anyways. Back to the actual topic of this thread- I’m not actually on that list of ED’ers :frowning: . I soo should add myself- But I’m trying to sleep … maybe tommorow!

wait… this thread had a topic?! No way!
