Congratulations to your son @Kristiern1 ! And good luck to everyone traveling to auditions this week - I hope the forecast is overblown and everyone stays safe.
@NYYFanNowMTdad Ohio unifieds are for Ohio students only and they are not in the same format as the other unifieds. They are more like combines, where all the schools are in the room at the same time and you have 3 minutes to show your material. Then it is individual by school as to wether or not they use it as a prescreen or final audition. Some schools will make offers that day. Lots of states have these types of regional auditions, usually any bigger schools that attend use it as a prescreen.
If anyone needs ideas on good places to get headshots and resumes printed for future reference… Reproductions does a great job of quick turn , email proof sent to approve & excellent product with border name option. Also can add resume to back if you wish.
Also we use actor paper dot com for getting the 8x10 paper & for a bit extra they will print the resume on it for you. Easy peasy.
Ohio Unifieds are open to all students, as I understand it. They had participants from several states outside of Ohio. https://ohedta.org/portfolio/ohio-unified-interview-audition-day/
Has anyone who auditioned at Hartt in December still not heard? I know some people got offers in December and I heard some people got rejections last night. They said they’d get back to us by today, so does no word mean a deferral? It’s been crickets on my end
@NYYFanNowMTdad yes Ohio Unifieds are open to anyone and you can get an offer and some may want you to come to another audition. There were schools there from Michigan and Indiana also
I second @theaterwork recommendation for Reproductions for headshot printing. We sent the file to them last Wednesday and they arrived FedEx last night. Excellent quality!
Hi Everyone! I have been a lurker, but have been following closely as my S is currently in the process. I am interested to hear next week how NY Unifieds went as we are going to Chicago and he is going to LA with his mom.
@KAT67 @Boilermom - I was also wondering where CCM would be also. Thank you!
@NYYFanNowMTdad, my D and hubby went to this. The list of schools was different from the one posted and even the list my D got 2 days before changed on audition day. Almost all Ohio Schools, with a combination of BFA/BA audition, and non audition programs. Callbacks ranged from “we liked your audition” to “you’re accepted artistically” depending on the school.
I think it was similar to MARCAS held this fall, but on a smaller scale.
To those that are waiting to hear from Wagner, if you get an invitation to audition and have any questions, feel free to reach out to me. My D is a sophomore Theatre Performance major and also a Student Ambassador. Happy to answer any questions!
@latinaMTmom It is so good to hear it all worked out for your son. We turned in my daughter’s first pre-screen at the end of November.
@LBSMOM My daughter has been invited to audition at Wagner. Any information would be helpful. please feel free to PM me. She loves Wagner!
@KAT67 Did your D find out via email or snail mail? We’re still waiting to hear back from Wagner.
@KAT67 @afterp89 - I reached out to Wagner today and just tonight they got back to me and said they were behind in reviewing theater applications. They expect to be wrapped up by tomorrow and emails will go out on Friday. Perhaps the ones they have reviewed thus far are getting responses back?
Just wanted to send out a huge “Break Legs” to everyone headed to NYC Unifieds this weekend! Surprisingly I will be in the city as well (for different reasons), and will be thinking of you all at Pearl and around the city!
@Kristiern1 - We live just south of Cincinnati in Northern KY (about 5 minutes from the NKU campus). OU is about a 2.5 hour drive for us. We visited the campus back in the summer but this was the first date when we could schedule an audition due to show commitments. Best of luck to your son at CCM!
Hi everybody! I’m a parent from two years ago and just wanted to drop in and wish you all the best as you head into the first set of Unifieds. Trust me when I say there will be surprises. Schools your son/daughter dreams of now might not live up to their hype; some other school will have a walk-in and fill him/her with a surprise enthusiasm. The vibe (the swirl of auditioners running here and there in various states of unrest) will be intense but also reflect their future life in a community of serious artists. Pace yourselves as best you can, be a shoulder to lean on, and trust that in one (and maybe more) of those rooms the door will shut, and though you won’t witness it in real time, your wonderful budding performer will walk into a welcoming place and be seen and appreciated and wanted, regardless of whether they know it for sure when they come back out again. Believe it or not, you will look back on these crazy months with a true fondness: the year you chaperoned your budding artist through what is likely the toughest thing they’ve done to date. You can already be so proud. Break legs!
@1bamom thank you! What a kind thing to say as we head into unifieds. What a nice group of people on this board. Break legs to all !
Has anyone out there completed a Carnegie Mellon audition yet? They have said to block a full four hours for the process in NY, but wondering what it looks like. Is it completed like a workshop (like some others are) or do they have individuals come in one at a time? So curious…thanks!
