The Class of 2023- sharing, venting, discussing! - MT

@ZukAndSowash Our D received a message through Acceptd with details about the audition at PACE on the 27th. What time is your son’s audition? D has hers from 1:30 pm to 5:30 pm.

@onepercentmom Thank you for the information with your experience about the PACE audition. Was there time for them to change into dance clothes or are they in them the whole time?

@artsmomof4 my son got info as well. He was originally scheduled for the afternoon session, I thought, but his Acceptd message said morning, which is good with me. We will drive home, about 3 hours, after the audition. Only bad thing is I won’t get to talk to you! Any other Pace parents for this Sunday?

@ZukAndSowash @artsmomof4
My D will be there for the afternoon session. She’s very excited!

@artsmomof4 - They are given time to change!

Just to clarify… there is NO dance call for Ithaca on campus?

Also… has anyone heard from CCM?

CCM tends to cut people loose once week…I believe it was every Friday in February last year until the last week of February… then a final cut on Monday when they made their final selections…they did give yes’s to some along the way, but some got cut a few days after Unifieds while others they held onto until the final week of February.

@musicaltheatre77 My son auditioned at CCM this past weekend. Got a no about 20 minutes ago. We are now 0 for 3. Feeling pretty down.

@musicaltheatre77 So sorry. This is such a tough process. We are dong CCM this weekend. Before we started this I process I would have thought hearing right away was a good thing, but now I’m dreading getting a no right before Unfieds.

My son just got a no as well from CCM.

At least we do t have to wait all day tomorrow for letter!

Hang in there @ZukAndSowash ! This process can be VERY hard on the talented young men and women who go through it and HARDER still on their parents. Be gentle with yourselves, try not to panic or get discouraged. My D got 10 “nos” in a row last year - but the one Yes that came at the end was the one that counted. Rejections hurt but everyone gets them, the applicant field is too crowded and the MT classes too small for it not to be the case. Have FAITH in your son and his talent - he will make it happen.

@musicaltheatre77 My D did an on-campus audition for Ithaca last year. - it was not the typical dance call. My D said it was more like “movements” and for only a few minutes. (She thought it was kind of strange. Lol)

@musicaltheater77 , My son got a NO from CCM tonight as well. So did 3 of his friends. take comfort, more decisions (some good hopefully) yet to come

Just remember, it only takes ONE yes. Your child can’t go to more than one school, right? Fingers crossed for all of your kiddos.

@musicaltheatre77 @Kristiern1 @CaMom13 @CTDramaMom Thank you everyone for your encouraging words and for sharing your own stories. It really helps a great deal.

I am curious to hear others’ audition experiences at NY Unified walk-ins. My DD said that during her audition for Rider, 2 of the adjudicators were talking to each other during her audition and the other one was on his phone. That seems very disrespectful to me. Did anyone else have a weird experience at Unified as a walk-in?

In one of my daughter’s auditions at NY Unifieds last weekend, one of the adjudicators was distracted during her audition. At the end, he apologized to her. My daughter joked that she was going to file a complaint with the Unified police. They all had a chuckle. I thought she handled this well. But yes, it is disrespectful to the student.

Wait until they’re in the real world. Sadly, it doesn’t get better.

@CTDramaMom - TRUTH.
