The email came at 7:15pm to check your portal because a decision had been made.
I’m so sorry to hear this , all. Remember its not where they were meant to be!! All you need is that 1 yes! And “Thank you, Next!!”
@morgan830 - you didn’t mention the decision… was there good news on that portal?
@collegeboundSam @MToverload - I agree that Corrinne Aqualina was a driving force in Tyler’s choice!! For us too. It shows how much she cares about her students. She has a great industry resume and real-life professional experience. She gives the kids the true lowdown on working in the industry. I remember her saying to us on tour that every audition is experience and you learn from every audition. Don’t get discouraged when you don’t get a part – there is always another part. Get discouraged when you aren’t learning something!
I feel Naz is truly a hidden gem right now. The London program was another main thing that attracted him. The kids seem so happy there. I can see Tyler thriving in that environment.
Thank you everyone for the good wishes! It is good to be settled. We just filled out his housing forms tonight!!
@CaMom13 yes, it was good news for my D. But for acting not MT. It was a great news after so so feelings about the cattle call vibe of Chicago unifieds.
Well CONGRATULATIONS to your D @morgan830 !!! That’s awesome news!!!
That’s wonderful @NYKaren - it is a great feeling to know where they’re going and feel great that it’s a good fit. Everyone who’s not there yet (like, almost everyone else) - hang on!!!
@morgan830
Congratulations!!
Congratulations @morgan830 !!!
@morgan830 - CONGRATS! That’s awesome for your daughter! I know that has to be a huge sense of excitement to get an acceptance so soon after the trip.
@carriemc95 @NYKaren @CanaDad @CaMom13 Thank you!! It was a great uplifter for D. And to clarify, she auditioned for ccm on campus a couple weeks ago. She’s had success with two on campus auditions — but Chicago unifieds were not a great experience for her/us. Most of them felt very perfunctory and left her very deflated. It’s a tough game! They will all end up where they’re supposed to be, right?!
@musicaltheatre77 @carriemc95 Sorry to hear about the nos from CCM. We haven’t heard yet, but maybe later tonight? Ugh, now I’m anxious! lol Carr your daughter has a great attitude! MT77 - hang in there - hopefully you’ll get the first yes soon!
@morgan830 Congratulations!!!
@musicaltheatre77 My d had at least 10 no’s (I lost count) before any yes’s so way to early to be discouraged! The next 7 weeks will be the longest in your kid’s lives. Keep them busy and distracted! At the end of March weigh your options including BA programs and Gap year. If stuck on a waitlist - visit that school if you can. Commit to a school by April 1 regardless - you can back out later (and beg for your money back) Good Luck!
@morgan830 Congratulations, CCM really seems like an awesome program!
Well my son auditioned for Juilliard today–it was on his bucket list to at least audition for them and give it a shot. It was a no today, as anticipated. More painful was the email with the no from CCM. He did NOT connect with MT but loved the acting audition–unfortunately it was a no to both:-( This whole process stinks! Lol I’m quite certain he is handling this better than his mother! Illinois State University and OKCU left. For us it’s 3 no’s on prescreens, 2 no’s from live auditions and a wait-list to even audition for B-W that likely won’t happen. We have 4 school left out of 10 applications.
Congrats @morgan830! Forgot to say that in my whiney post! Haha
Congrats to all of the parents (& students!) who have survived Chicago Unifieds. It was pretty intense, but overall my daughter loved it, and preferred Chicago to NY. I think staying in the Palmer was key, having a room to go back and change at was so helpful. Especially on days when she had rotating dance calls and song/monologue. One day she changed 7 times! I can’t imagine doing all that in the public bathroom nor walking back and forth from another hotel multiple times a day (like we did in NY). I highly recommend the executive floors for people doing this next year ~ having unlimited tea, water bottles & daily breakfast just a few feet away from our room was so convenient & worth the premium in my opinion. Plus the dedicated executive elevators saved SO much time. The few times I went to the regular elevators I wanted for what seemed like an eternity for one, which I can’t imagine doing for 4 straight days. Good luck to everyone going out to LA this weekend, and may the waiting period go fast for all of us!
@NewToThis13 @collegeboundSam Feel free to send me a PM! I’m a Class of 2018 Viterbo grad, a working actor/administrator, and most of all I’m SO JEALOUS that you and your D got to spend time with my friends (the students our faculty brought along)! I graduated mid-year (long story short, I booked a national tour while I was still a student and took some time off to tour, so delayed my graduation by a semester) and I already miss my classmates so much!
@MThopeful99 I think there are 12 MTs in this year’s Viterbo freshman class, if I’m not forgetting anyone! The program doesn’t currently have a showcase, but it’s my understanding that the faculty are examining the options for value-added experiences that will best serve the students as they make their way into the industry post-graduation. The fact of the matter is that showcases don’t work nearly as well as they used to even 5 years ago–the industry is too over-saturated with them. Besides that, Viterbo grads aren’t the type to collectively move to NYC, and in your senior year the program really puts a focus on finding the market that is right for you. We have a lot of grads who are working actors in Chicago, Minneapolis, Kansas City, and Orlando, and I know many of the people who were in my senior class (both class of 2018 and class of 2019, as I kind of straddled the two based on when I graduated) are considering/have moved to other strong regional markets like DC, Philly, and Seattle.
I can go into further detail about networking and performance opportunities if you shoot me another PM!
@pegski I’m sorry - hard day. My D will be dropping her BW audition at the end of the month, and from what I hear it’s pretty common for people to drop out of the later auditions, so hopefully your S will get a spot. Maybe consider applying to some other programs - I know there are places that still have auditions available (or take a last minute flight to Los Angeles and do walk-ins this weekend!). Good luck with the final 4!!
