The Class of 2023- sharing, venting, discussing! - MT

@musicaltheatre77 Hang in there! Your D’s yes will come. But I agree…the nos are hard.

@carriemc95 Glad your D is ‘feeling mutual’ and is able to move forward! And congrats on the yesses!

@pegski thank you and I’m a sorry for your S- the process is rough for sure. Thankfully they are way tougher and more resilient than we are! Your S will find his home.
Thank you @HPDbfa !

@BrennaK Congrats on finishing!

@CanadianMTgirl thanks for chiming in RE: Viterbo. My daughter has been accepted to the BFA MT program and we met your friends at the event @ Chicago unifieds and they made her feel very welcomed and comfortable. Our main hesitation with the program is location, as we are from the East Coast and La Crosse is just SO hard to get to via flight. She asked if we could possibly visit campus and I looked into it and was so disappointed by the options to actually get there. I can’t imagine going though that for four years.

@NYKaren. Woohoooo! And congrats!

@pegski you might take a look at Kent State and Bowling Green for late auditions. I think Manhattanville College in Yonkers also has late auditions.

To go back to drama from EARLIER in the day… I read this morning’s post about rumor of Victoria Bussert leaving BW - and that her facebook had corrected that rumor. So I decided to look at her FB page (we are not FB friends, but she keeps a fairly public profile) and her post about staying is NOT complimentary of the College Confidential world. Nor are many of the comments… including some from surprising factions - other college heads, people I know are on CC, and an audition coach. For those of you that enjoy the search for red flags… you might want to check it out

@pegski Western Connecticut State U has a great program with an audition date early March. It used to be a BA, but has since become a BFA. New state of the art facilities and about a 90 minute train ride to NYC.

For those still waiting on their yes, I truly believe it will come!
For those who have received a yes, congrats!
For those still waiting…hang on!
For those who’ve made decisions, breathe! (And maybe start the final decisions thread!) It’s my fave! Lol
For all us parents…keep on…
:-*

@toowonderful ! I’m going to check it out! ???

@El-Cee as you can probably tell by my username, I’m Canadian (from Toronto) and I won’t pretend Viterbo is the most conveniently located school of all time. In fact, my parents have made me promise that when I go to grad school, that I’ll pick something on a more convenient flight path! I often got to school by flying into Chicago, and taking the Amtrak up from Chicago to La Crosse, or driving up from Chicago with one of my friends. Because the location isn’t ideal, Viterbo tends to have a lot of students from the Midwest, and I never had a problem finding a friend from the Chicagoland area who would let me ride with them to and from school. It’s also possible to fly into Minneapolis and take a shuttle bus (that runs 8x a day) between MSP and Viterbo, which I did a few times (and there are tons of Viterbo students from the Twin Cities area as well, so it’s also easy to catch a ride with a friend in that direction, too). I will say this–I don’t drive, and my Viterbo experience would have been a little easier with a car. Food for thought.

Hi friends! We’re heading to Cincinnati this weekend, then to LA! Any insight on CCM and BOCO auditions?

All I can say is these kids are so BRAVE to embark on this process! I’m in awe of them all!! We’ve met so many wonderful parents & students along this crazy journey. Everyone has been so kind and it’s been a bright spot in this insanity!

@lithpool , am I the only one who made a final decision? It could be?? OK, I promise, I’ll start that thread but it will have to wait until after this weekend. I’m running the Valentine’s Fundraiser Dance for the HS on Saturday. I’m in the middle of doing seating for 550 people and organizing the 75 raffle baskets! 8-}

@toowonderful maybe if they didn’t make this entire process such a cluster&#%$ then people wouldn’t need CC to figure it out and vent. Just the opinion of someone who barely survived last year

@pegski , @afterp89 Just to clarify. Manhattanville is in Purchase NY, a beautiful (and affluent) campus in lower Westchester County. It is not Yonkers. They have a BA with MT concentration

@MTMomma13 CCM MT is all business. Not much on the warm and fuzzies but a serious program with serious connections! I heard the acting program is a little warmer…

@musicaltheatre77 My daughter got 6 no’s (including pre-screens) before any yes’s and ended up with 8 yes’s and 2 waitlists! Be patient and see this through to the end! ?

Our first Yes was not until the first week of March!

@collegeboundSam thank you for correcting my error and offering insight on the neighborhood.

For those looking for late auditions- Molloy/CAP21 has two more audition dates: February 16 at the Manhattan Center, and February 20 at the Rockville Centre campus. They will be at LA Unifieds. Contact the Recruitment Coordinator, Rebecca Overton, at roverton@molloy.edu.
