The Class of 2023- sharing, venting, discussing! - MT

I’m thinking about going ahead and signing D up for the Arts Dorm to make sure she gets a spot - their deposit is refundable as far as I can see.

@Mark80 my D was also wait listed for BFA MT at Ohio and then got a talent scholarship. But the letter also said if she did not get off of wait list she could attend as BA Theatre, so I’m thinking they are trying to entice either way? If you speak to them please let us know!

@MTMom2019 & @frisbee3 & @afterp89 - Yes, the first communication we received was his rejection for the MT BFA. And like you, we also yesterday received an invite to apply for the Fine Arts Community housing as well. It almost sounds as if (at least in our case), that the MT selection folks have yet to notify the Financial Aid and Housing folks that my S wasn’t accepted.

@CaMom13 - Correct - we are just waiting to hear from Xavier at this point (last Saturday was 4 weeks since his audition). After seeing their production this past weekend, my S is REALLY hoping for a yes from them. Thanks for the positive karma!

@LIMTMom - you are correct. He could still enroll as a BA student there (he received no notice of being wait listed). I’m just surprised that they have the funds to offer talent scholarships to the non BFA students. I can’t imagine what the BFA kids are being offered.

@MTSongbirdMom I’m so sorry to hear about your daughters loss of a friend. That is so tough! What a trooper to go on with her audition.

So for those interested in FSU, All4FSU just posted on another thread that MT decisions have been made and letters are being prepared and they expect to have them in the mail by Thursday. I presume that calls will go out in the next few days :-S

My S got an email an hour ago saying that he is admitted to OKCU for MT BM. He’s very excited! Really loved our visit out there.

@“boola boola” That’s great! My D has her audition there this weekend. She’s had an attitude during this whole thing that since it’s so competitive she’ll be happy getting accepted anywhere, knowing that the odds are she won’t get accepted to many. But this is one she is really hoping for so hopefully we get the same good news in a couple weeks. She’s done their summer program in the past and loved the vibe there too. Well done to your son!

@BoolaBoola I feel like our sons are shadowing each other! lol Mine auditions at OKCU next weekend! He changed to BFA acting there however as he didn’t care for the amount of classical work they do. Also, the MT and Acting programs are very integrated there unlike CCM. Congrats to your son getting in a GREAT program!

@minicp - what thread did she post that on? Would like to have a look…

@minicp - I found the thread-
thank you

@frisbee3 sorry I didn’t respond just saw your post. Glad you found it. Now I’m just stalking threads to see when calls go out :-/

@MomofJ5 (regarding our comments on page 237) Thanks for the pep talk! LOL I really got into my head last week for some reason about wishing we’d asked for more $$ but you’re right! Also the thought did cross my mind about asking for sophomore year. She did get a 3.9 after all, it couldn’t hurt.

Anyone heard from Otterbien?

@minicp - let me know what you find…I’ll look too :slight_smile:

@berrytenor Yes, S heard today. :slight_smile:

@frisbee3 Will do! We’re waiting on FSU and Shenandoah and the waiting is driving me crazy. D is handling much better than I am :-/

@berrytenor My D got an acceptance phone call from Otterbein this afternoon.

This is so hard. I have typed and deleted several posts. I wanted to post to keep everyone updated because I know I have done NOTHING but refresh this site waiting for news, but I also know that my D’s phone call today doesn’t mean all the phone calls are done, but it will cause stress for ppl still waiting.

Otterbein is one of her top beloved picks and she’s over the moon excited. But she’s also waiting on some other decisions, several of which she has deep, personal affection for. AND we’re also so very cognizant of the last year’s trauma of no viable options.

May we all survive this season with some our sanity intact.

@pegski I think they are definitely shadowing each other! I feel like we know you guys. Good luck at OKCU. I think you’ll love it!

@CaliMTdreams Best of luck to your daughter this weekend! I hope she has a great audition. I believe she will, because it’s such a fun environment. Students everywhere answering questions. Just a great day out there!

@BrennaK - so very happy for your D. To be able to get into a top choice school after an initially disappointing round of acceptances is HUGE and you must be so proud.
