D just got admitted to the BFA MT program at Nebraska Wesleyan and the BA Theatre w/ MT emphasis at Butler University today. NWU comes with a talent scholarship and gives lots of opportunities to get on stage while Butler gives her an option for a double major and/or minor if she wants to go that route (good to have choices). Really nice to get a pair of “yes” answers on the same day…
Referring to college meaning you can at least plan the next 4 years!? Hate to burst any delusions but certainly hasn’t been the case with us. Every weekend I try to make a plan with my d it changes last minute. Auditions paid for and then canceled. Travel planned and then changed. Last minute trips. I have NIO idea yet what she is doing this summer. Being a big planner myself and her being a live in the moment kid has been rough and I thought I was coping better, until she is did it again for next weekend! Ugh!!
Congratulations to your D @afterp89!!!
Hi! I accidentally posted this in the wrong spot earlier. Did anyone audition at Samford University in Alabama and if so, have you heard anything? Thanks!
Afterp89, Butler grad here (from long ago, and with an English degree.) Go Bulldogs! It is a wonderful school, and most of my friends were in the Jordan College of the Arts. Sounds like she has great choices.
@creekside My D did in the fall. She was notified three weeks later by mail, but it could have been because she was a fall audition? They said that financial packages would come in March after all auditions we’re complete.
@MTSongbirdMom thank you for the response! Did your daughter like it?
When I asked about OU I meant Univ of OK, sorry about the confusion! I have seen on here that some have gotten acceptances via phone call and one said they received a no already. So I’m just wondering what the general procedure is. I guess we’re expecting a no if we haven’t received a phone call, since the others heard on Feb 18-19. Just wondering why we haven’t seen a no yet (I am hoping no news is good news, but it’s hard when the last 3 have been no!). My daughter really loved that audition at LA Unifieds and is crossing her fingers, but we are realistic. I have heard they will only take 11…those aren’t good odds! Good luck, everyone, and thanks for responding!
@creekside She absolutely fell in love with the campus, staff, and students. Unfortunately she was redirected to a different BFA which she’s still considering. She had lost a friend the week before the audition and it was a bad audition despite being a fantastic experience!
So something REALLY strange just happened.
My D didn’t apply for OCU at all. I think we missed all the deadlines for applications. But she just got a voicemail asking her to confirm her audition on Saturday?? They were at the state thespian festival, but she didn’t think she got a call back from them.
Anyway…does anyone know what time the Oklahoma City University auditions start and end on March 2nd? She already had an audition scheduled at OSU that day, but they are only an hour from each other.
False alarm. We played the message over and over, but when I checked the guys name in Google, he is at OSU, no OCU. He must have just been tired when he left the message.
@afterp89 congrats to you D on Nebraska Wesleyan! Yip Yip! My daughter is a current MT BFA senior … if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out!
@KaMaMom Thanks, trying to work out a solo visit for her for their big visit day. It’s not the easiest school to get to from Maryland. :-S
@MTthreats - probably “no news is good news” right now. My S received his rejection letter for the MT BFA from Ohio U about a week and a half ago, but then received his financial aid packet this past weekend which listed two theatre talent scholarships which has completely confused us. Best of luck to your daughter!
So your son is just waiting on Xavier, right @mark80? Crossing fingers and toes for him!
@Mark80 We are also confused by Ohio U. Daughter received letter saying she is waitlisted for BFA Acting and nothing about BFA Musical Theater. Then yesterday she got a letter telling her to apply for the BFA dorm.
@Mark80 and @MTMom2019 My D got the financial aid package this weekend too, but nothing yet on the BFA program. I would call or email them for clarification.
@afterp89 - Same situation here with academic acceptance, fin’l aid package but no answer for MT BFA. Did you call or were you just suggesting @Mark80 call for clarification on their specific situation? Would be curious what they said.
@frisbee3 I was suggesting they call. I won’t call/email for my D until we get some notice one way or the other on the BFA. Based on our discussion with them last week they are sending out decision letters on a rolling basis.
Re: Ohio U, my D also got academic acceptance, financial aid and invitation for the Arts dorm, but all make reference to the need to be artistically accepted. So I think it just means more waiting but no indicator one way or the other.
