@MTmama42 @NoMTinMD @KAT67 I BSU did NOT make calls Monday!! They met all day Tuesday making decisions. Before today there were 3 or 4 MT special case acceptances and I heard 4 acting majors were call yesterday. They will call the first round very soon and tell you if waitlisted. Then, they will take people off the list as needed into April. I would visit if you can if you are waitlisted and you are very interested.
Confirmed that a boy we know got the UMich call for MT acceptance @6pm tonight and we are so happy for him!

@NYC3mom Your daughter was one of the lucky few!! They told us that they wait until everyone has auditioned, but may make a very occasional offer prior to the end of auditions!

@RogueMom and anyone else interested… Anyone in Acting, MT, dance, and BA students can audition for plays and musicals and dance shows. The auditions for all shows that semester happen at the same time and casting released. I believe everyone in the BFA program gets a spot somewhere (except first and last semester) but @Divamamacita might be able to confirm that. There are also a lot of film opportunities through the projects done in that department. First semester my d’s acting class was split MT/acting. This semester her class is all MT. And yes acting majors can take voice lessons (not sure if extra fees involved) and dance classes.
Also want to clarify my previous message - I assume waitlisted people are emailed or snail mailed but don’t know which. They will be called if they get an offer.
Interested to know as well, since we were hoping for a call. @4angels can I ask when you auditioned?

I’m confused, too. Ds friend from Nexus was called and offered a spot on Monday at BSU MT. Some calls were made.

@RogueMom All of the performing majors audition together each semester for the next semester’s shows. AO’s and MTO’s are considered for everything and are often cross cast — my MTO daughter was cast every semester, 4 times in musicals and 2 times in straight plays. She received an Irene Ryan nomination for her work in Twilight, Los Angeles which is an ethnographic piece about the LA Riots. Students don’t perform first semester freshman year or last semester senior year unless they ask for an exception to audition their last semester. It is a heavily acting-based program - AO’s can take voice, but I think they pay on their own. I think they can also take dance classes as electives. I also think that some of the AO’s audition for and take part in the Cabaret class during their sophomore or junior year. The AO’s and MTO’s are close throughout their 4 years together and overlap quite a bit. They showcase together in Chicago, Los Angeles and NYC. These are audition-based showcases. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to the department for more information —I am just a cheerleader, but certainly not an expert on the curriculum.

@MTdreamz You mentioned Ball State has made 3-4 special case acceptances for MT. How does one go about being a special case? We would like to become one lol! And are those the only MT acceptances they have made?
I don’t know what Nexus is but like I said there were a few calls made before today but I do not believe they are anywhere near done. They are trying to fill 30 to 40 spots and will probably offer more to get those numbers. I got the impression from my d that the bulk of the calls have not been made yet. That’s all I have to go on
