@“boola boola” I would add Utah to the new/revamped category but can no longer edit my post, as the time ran out. Sorry!
Does anyone know anything about Southeast Missouri State (SEMO)? Other than having beautiful new facilities in an out of the way location? I can’t find any information about it, which I suppose may be telling?
Why don’t we hear about Texas Tech on CC? Does anyone know when they will send results or have feedback on the program?
Thanks, @“boola boola”
@MTMama23 Texas Tech’s MT program is not that old. 4 years maybe. And I think they only take like 6 a year (info from last year) so I don’t know that information gets spread quickly. I have heard they aren’t the best communicators with decisions based on last years thread. I can tell you they are currently building new facilities and classrooms. I would be glad to share more if you can dm.
What about Emerson? I don’t see this on the list.
Is this whole process giving anyone else a low grade temp and feeling of mild nausea?
@LIMTMom - Hi there. As I stated in the intro, the list is not exhaustive. But you will find Emerson under the strong actor-training category.
Does anyone know how many students Millikin accepts for MT?
@MTSongbirdMom I can’t send messages yet but if you want to message me I can reply to you. Thanks!
@mommymt At the Millikin parent meeting during chicago auditions they said they don’t cap a specific number for BFA program, but usually end up with sbout 15 BFA Acting and 30 BFA MT.
@mommyMT in the past Millikin usually takes about 20 but with the new theatre and dance building set to open in the fall of 2020, they were slowly going to expand the programs.
@CaMom13 all FSU admitted MT and acting were added to a Facebook group and each name was listed. I’m sure that was the ss.
@beachymom Where would you put Ithaca?
Wow - this crowd knows so much! Kudos to @beachymom! I agree that trying to rank schools or put them in tiers or designating any school as a “fit” or “safety” for MT is totally unhelpful. But “focused on” this or that is SO helpful! I also think there’s enough knowledge in this crowd that after the smoke has cleared we could classify schools by range of % accepted just to give people an idea of what they are facing. Last year I posted about a admissions difficulty scale from “not so hard” to “OMG” and that’s really all I was thinking to do - gather that kind info in one place so next year’s class doesn’t have to find out the hard way that the 10 programs they applied to are all considered “lottery schools”.
@DadOfMTboy I hope they intend to send letters to the kids who didn’t get in.
I think if you are going by acceptance rates, this whole list is going to change again as soon as data is in this year. Every school I talked to at each Unifieds stated they have auditioned record numbers and if you include prescreens, almost all schools will be in the 5% or less acceptence rate.
@posivibes You can find Ithaca under the most competitive category. I would also say that it goes under a category that I did not list “equal focus across all disciplines” (included in this cat are schools such as: Michigan, Syracuse, Indiana, Tisch. U of Oklahoma, Penn St, Elon and Miami). FWIW, Ithaca has a great acting base, too.
@NoMTinMD I was going to mention the same. D went to Kent State and they added an overflow audition date because they had a record number of applicants. I think their acceptance rate is going to be about 15% for a 10% yield and they said they are may have to go to a waitlist for the first time ever. I would imagine some of the schools may have to recalculate their own expectations on how many will accept compared to how many will be offered.
@afterp89 And that is Kent State, a great program but they don’t attend any Unified which limits their applicants. All these schools are starting to see 1000 kids or more and taking 50 or less
