For UMiami, from what I read on another thread, be sure to check the MESSAGE CENTER for an actual confirmation. Don’t just look at the application status. I think this was the same thing my S had to do two years ago. Good luck!
Anyone else get the Syracuse Waitlist today? We are in the same boat with a lot of you when it comes to the prices of these schools. I was a total dummy and didn’t make my D apply to as many affordable options as she could have. @musickidmom my D has 2 friends who have been accepted to Missouri State, haven’t heard of any from Montclair State. @Debolution to put things in perspective, I have one child at a top 10 Ivy law school whose tuition and housing is $82,000/ year. Projections show that she will make six figures the first day out. Half my theatre D’s acceptance schools are approx 60-70 all-in. She hopes to get ANY job. Now I am all about helping my kids’ dreams come true, but my very practical husband shakes his head and looks at us like we are aliens. We are going to shoot for a compromise. Especially because we still have to put 2 more through college. PS- if we had more money, we would send her to an “Emerson” without batting an eye. So I think it’s worth what you can live with! Congratulations!!!
@Kristiern1 For WMU we haven’t heard, but we logged on to my D’s portal and her major has been changed from “Pre-Theatre” to “University Curriculum” - we’re expecting a no or maybe a waitlist.
@CaMom13 Thank you so much. My brain is jello. I was thinking that her redirect to BA Theatre was similar to her OKCU redirect to voice! Now I realize we didn’t pursue Millikin because she was redirected to a non-audition program. Amazing scholarship money, though.
@4angels - lol! Jello brain is “in” at this stage. Yes, it really does suck when the super nice merit $ comes in with an academic admit your kid doesn’t want.

I think @vvnstar 's D attended OCU - maybe she can help. Just so you know @Debolution - my daughter’s voice teacher wasn’t hot for my D’s program either … didn’t even think my D should apply. We are very glad we didn’t listen to her because she was completely off base.

Sorry I can’t find the name of the poster who asked about Emerson. It is my opinion that the vocal and acting is top notch. Dance was a deal breaker for my D. It looks like students take one to two dance classes a semester. My D has been taking 6-8 a week at her school, which has a dance program. Emerson does not. You could always supplement and pay for dance off campus but in all honestly they do not have the time. So it really depends what your child is looking for and if you can cover it financially. I don’t believe in going into huge debt for this degree, no matter which school you attend.

S received a big package in the mail today from USC (So Cal). He’s at the State Thespian Competition, and doesn’t want us to open it. Bwaaaaah!! ?

@love2share Thank you!! Just hoping it’s not simply a university acceptance. But I seem to recall that he had to declare what school/program he was wanting. Of course, at this point I too have jelly brain, so I very well may be thinking of some other school, lol. He gets home around midnight tonight. Unfortunately, the old “flashlight under the envelope” trick doesn’t work, because there’s a folder in there. I’ll just have to wait … again. ?
