I contacted admissions at each school last year to see if they would accept the ACT sent by the counselor. Some allowed it, some didn’t. You might get lucky if you ask.
@MToverload , My D is in group 3 as well. I am all gray long hair so you can’t miss me. And my D looks completely opposite of me. Another clue.
@BWmama I wish I was going too, but my husband is taking my D. He has a large head (clue) lol. And…what about her…hmm…I think the outfit she picked to wear is maroon.
@BWmama Maybe we know each other.
Did your daughter did a Theater program last summer at NYC?
@caralf1 , Yes, she/we did! And just saw R this last Sunday. I guess we can’t identify ourselves on this site, so give me a hint or FB message me. Are you going to MARCAS?
Question for those knee deep in this years auditions/ scheduling or people from past years…
If you have 15-20+ auditions to schedule and schools like CMU ( & others) expect you to block out 4 hours- how can you get many done at unified and how many on campus auditions can you realistically fit in over 2-3 months?
Thanks
@BWmama with your description I knew it was you!
I saw the FB pictures from the weekend, she even gave them a “special “ hat.
Our D’s are already talking about being in college together and stay in the same dorm.
We are not going to MARCAS.
I will send you a FB message.
@NYYFanNowMTdad you might want to do both NY and Chicago Unifieds to cover your bases, then fill in with the schools where you have to audition on campus.
@NYYFanNowMTdad D1 managed 12 auditions plus a number of walk ins at Chicago Unifieds and 2 on campus auditions (counting CCPA although she did the audition while at Unifieds). D2 managed 16 auditions with 7 on campus auditions (counting CCPA) and 9 at Chicago Unifieds. She did a mixture of Acting and MT but even the Acting schools wanted long blocks of time. Only one of her Acting auditions was a walk in. She could possibly have fit in one or two more walk-ins but she was so exhausted she passed. It is reasonable to fit 2 per day comfortably; 3 if dance calls are held separately. You will find a number of schools will hold their dance calls at a different time. In Chicago, many are held the weekend before and a few are held in the evenings.
@NYYFanNowMTdad MARCAS at Rowan University this Saturday will have around 25 schools - and some on her list have told us they’ll make their decision from that audition. Did first on-campus audition last weekend and going to on-campus auditions Nov 9-10, Dec 8, Dec 15, Dec 17, Feb 17, Feb 24. 8 scheduled so far between NY and Chicago. Likely submitting 2-3 video auditions.
We did Chicago Unifieds also and scheduled one morning and one afternoon audition each day Sunday - Wednesday. Not all schools were there Sunday but I believe Michigan was and some others. We could then add in some walk-ins in around those 8 auditions. It would have been easy to fit more auditions in as many of them did not need all morning or all afternoon. But to avoid any stress or worry about conflicting times or missing an audition, it worked best for us to schedule one in the morning and one in the afternoon for each day of Unifieds we attended. I think with scheduling the big question mark is always the on campus auditions you choose to attend. Generally, we could only do one of those in a weekend as we did not live near those schools.
And… you can add one more date to my list above. Feb 16 at Otterbein (D just passed the prescreen!).
@afterp89 Congrats! My D just heard she passed Otterbein, too!
@afterp89 thanks for that hectic calendar and congrats re Otterbein…Thats to @lovetoact , @artskids and @vvnstar
@NYYFanNowMTdad we are lucky and live on the East Coast and my D’s selection has schools really located within a day’s driving distance of where we live so we are going to be able to do all 16 auditions on-campus! There are a few we will have to fly to, but she was adamant she wanted us to spend the money visiting the schools directly than spending it on flying to Chicago and going the unified route. Taking a gamble, but that’s our game plan. How we are doing it? Already auditioned at Emerson this summer during their summer program, 2 done at the end of September, 1 in Dec, 5 in January and the remaining in February. Here’s hoping Mother Nature is kind to us in the Northeast with all the traveling that we will be doing!
@NYYFanNowMTdad We’re in Los Angeles and our goal is to have my D audition for 13 schools over 4 days, Friday - Monday during LA Unifieds. We mapped everything out by trying to schedule the colleges at the same hotel or nearby on the same day, as well as having 2 block (morning & afternoon) appointments each day. Then we filled the 30 minute to 1 hour appointments in between and after the afternoon block. So far, we have 3 appointments on Friday 2/8, 4 possibly 5 on Saturday 2/9, 3 on Sunday 2/10, and 2 on Monday 2/11. As of right now, we’re not planning on any campus appointments. 14 total schools, 1 is non-audition (Drew). Still waiting to schedule 3 schools to finalize.
@love2share I was wondering which schools you were scheduling on Monday in LA (and if you know any others that will be there Monday)?
@MToverload On Monday, we have DePaul in the morning at LAX Renaissance hotel and NYU in the afternoon at the Sheraton Pasadena hotel. I also know that Emerson is there on Monday as part of the LA Unifieds at the LAX Westin. Emerson is also a block appointment. Hope this helps!
@MTVTmom we here in Western Mass are with you in hoping the weather cooperates this winter. My D has 16 auditions and wants to do most of them on campus. We will be driving I90 a lot!! We started south today and she has her very first audition on Friday at Elon. Maybe we should have saved that one for February! Congrats to all who passed Otterbein prescreen today. We’re going January 26th. One of our many I90 trips.
Congrats on the favorable Otterbein notifications today! I’m wondering when those prescreens were submitted? My S is still waiting anxiously for Otterbein and others!
