The Class of 2023- sharing, venting, discussing! - MT

We also got the Boco interview thing, except that it doesn’t work on our browser, so she’ll have to find another computer to complete it.

As a side question, we submitted prescreen materials to UMichigan back in mid-October, but D was waiting to write the ACT to make the academic cutoff. Did fine on that and submitted the scores 2 weeks ago; any idea how long it then might take to hear about the prescreen? I didn’t know if they evaluate them on a rolling basis or in batches. Trying to piece together a schedule for Unifieds and UM is the one we’d like to get scheduled. Give it some more time, or worth calling?

Re: BOCO interview… it took my daughter several hours to complete due to tech issues. We tried on both Safari and Chrome. Neither worked very well. We tried a couple different computers, too. Definitely set aside a good amount of time to get through it.

I know that some have heard a no from Belmont fall auditions, but I’m wondering if anyone has heard a yes? We haven’t heard anything yet.

@CanaDad We didn’t submit to UMich so im sorry but no help there but if its any help to others the schools we applied to that had pre-screens and their response times were:

FSU - less than 1 week (both acting and MT)
Carnegie - 2 weeks
Pace - about 1 week
Elon - Still Waiting
BOCO - 2 weeks
Shenandoah - about 3 weeks

@BrennaK - Thanks for the head’s up! Our internet connection is super slow and no one at my house is particularly tech savvy so I am sure it’s going to take some time.

@CanaDad If you submitted UMich by October 15th, then you should have heard by now. If you submitted after that date, their website says end of December. My S submitted ON October 15th–didn’t have all recs in until Nov 1–but heard soon after that. Hope that helps!

@CanaDad
UMich is not doing NY unifieds (as you probably know). I’m assuming you’re tryIng to meet them at another Unifieds. I found the unifieds info online too general so I called UMich.

@NYart15 Yes, we are doing Chicago. Trying to fit 7 schools into the 4 days is quite a jigsaw puzzle. Then a side trip to BW on the loop home.
@MTJourney19 I’ll have to check what date she actually got it submitted. If Oct 15 or before, we’ll call. Thanks.

@Frisbee we submitted to Rider and have not heard back yet.

Daughter was academically accepted to TSU but hasn’t received anything about her prescreen… should she have heard already? Should she call the MT DEPT?

@frisbee3 - TSU? TCU? Texas State? As far as I know all MT schools that have an academic acceptance do that process separately from the artistic acceptance so getting the academic admit means nothing with regards to how far along the artistic review has gotten.

We are on vacation and just got back to hotel from Disney World, and my D ran into my room very excited because she passed the Pace prescreens! A nice end to a great day, although I started to feel like a rat stuck in a maze…

@BWmama -congrats!

DramaLlama18 I think your percentages need to take into account that there are far fewer boys actually auditioning and probably double if not triple girls…this actually makes the boys chances higher.

I know Texas State is still reviewing pre-screens.

@BWmama Woohoo! Congrats!

@mamaboyz I agree with your post. I am finding many schools take more boys than girls when I have been looking at numbers. So boys have a way better chance all around than the girls.

@mamaboyz @KAT67 yes, the odds are absolutely better for boys. It’s cringey that theatre is so male-domintated - schools won’t change until the industry changes. Hopefully soon - it’s happening. For my selfish purposes, I factored boys out entirely and started with actual girl yield at each school and backed into my informal calculation of odds from there. Following last year’s thread, though, it’s obviously extremely competitive across the entire gender spectrum! Cheering for you all.

Well, my baby just got rejected from her first prescreen- Emerson. It was her first one too. Lets hope all goes well for the other ones!

@MTMomma13 I am very sorry! Hoping for yes’s from here on out for you D.

@MTMomma13 So hard when the first one is a no. We had that here too and it really shook us and everything decision that was made. It was followed by yeses and one more no. So hang on there. There are sure to be yeses right around the corner! Might be better that first one is a no - makes any yes that come afterward so much sweeter! Hang in there!
