The Class of 2023- sharing, venting, discussing! - MT

@CaliMTdreams Thank you! We have been waiting with fingers crossed. Feeling better now bc once we get the audition scheduled, I can book our flight home from Chicago! (Only bought a one way tix to Chi so far…lol)

@MTSongbirdMom - thats awful…believe it or not there were at least 2 stories similar to yours in the MT forums over the past 3-4 years, Ill see if I can find the threads, but scenarios where a friend took their own life in the midst of all this havoc ( one had a you tube tribute as I recall)…how the kids and family survived is a remarkable testament to their strength and perseverance. that said everyone has to do what works for them and their are several gap year success stories in the pages as well…one was from @owensfolks & the other from chronicled in great detail the year long ( maybe even 2 years from first year auditions through gap year) if I find them Ill PM you…best of luck…

@MTSongbirdMom. So sorry for all that is going on in your life.

@MTSongbirdMom I am someone who decided, due to things going on in my personal life, to take a gap year and audition the next year. I would completely recommend it! I was able to deal with the things going on in my life, enjoy my senior year and am now approaching the audition process feeling much for focused and prepared. I’m so sorry your daughter (and family) has had to deal with this and am wishing you luck with whatever choice you make:)

@MTSongbirdMom So sorry for everything you are going through. Good luck with whichever path your D chooses.

@collegeboundSam My D really enjoyed Nazareth and can totally see herself there. We shall see…

@BWmama . I just messaged you. Thank you

Has anyone had any luck getting a Hartt audition time changed for Unifieds? My D emailed them right after they sent it because she has a conflict with another school, but she hasn’t heard back. I tried to call today and got voice mail. I’m wondering how flexible they are!

@MTSongbirdMom so sorry to hear of these sad events. I’m sending best wishes to you and your daughter.

@lithpool congrats on Otterbein news!

@collegeboundSam Hey there, I don’t see a message!!!

Congrats @lithpool.

And, of course, @MTSongbirdMom , I’m so sorry to hear the sad news. Wishing you and your family the best. Life has a way of turning on a dime…

My D is on Cloud 9. Just passed her BoCo prescreen. Now, if I can only fit it into our calendar…

@BWmama congrats!!!
When did you submit? We’re still waiting to hear from BoCo.

@carriemc95 Pretty sure someone said all of Hartt’s slots are booked so not sure how flexible they’ll be.

I spoke with Michigan this afternoon and they said they are working to get all the unsent prescreen notifications out tonight and tomorrow.

@bwmama Never mind. Just got the no.
Ah well.

I’m grateful prescreen decisions are all in.
Though BoCo, Shenandoah, Texas State & UMich said no thank you, my D is thrilled with the yes from Pace.

@BWmama Boco has some Friday’s in January in case you didn’t see that. We are headed there January 4th for an AM audition.

@NYart15 congrats on Pace. At least they give good scholarship money. You can estimate it on their website based on SAT scores and GPA. Don’t feel bad. Michigan and Texas did not pass a whole lot of people. I know many who were denied prescreen.

@mtnyc19 @BWmama @carriemc95 Thank you all for the good wishes. We are thrilled to be in the ‘waiting for auditions’ zone.

Congrats to all on prescreens!

@NYart15 We submitted to Boco about the middle of November. I confess, I didn’t write down dates when submitted, although I now see that I should have. It’s interesting that just the day after receiving her HS transcript, then we get the message that she passed. I don’t know if getting all docs was a requirement. Her HS was a bit slow turning that in. I think that one had to be sent in manually.

Just saw your follow-up post. So sorry.

@collegeboundSam Unfortunately, my D has a play at her HS on Jan 4 & 5. I’m thinking we can take a quick hop to Atlanta on the 13th. Of course, my D has a show on Jan 12 that was rescheduled because of the snow storm we had earlier in December, but it’s a quick flight, head to ATL early a.m., leave in the evening, no hotel stay and $109 Southwest tickets! Sounds like a bargain. Then we can check out Boston if they decide they want her.

@MTSongbirdMom my heart is breaking for you and your D. Best of luck on whatever she chooses. There are many very successful gap year stories chronicled here.
