No breakfast for me. It’s the one meal I can easily skip as the idea/smell of food in the morning makes me queasy. Used to drive my mom nuts when I was a kid. However, later in marriage, I began having breakfast with DH (because he insisted), and I started gaining weight. Going back to eating only when I was hungry took that weight off, so only coffee for me in the morning.
I’m not a breakfast eater..just a cup of coffee. But I do love breakfast food and it’s actually my favorite meal! But I’m a brunch timing person. If I had to choose, it would be a great breakfast sandwich. But I also like French toast, pancakes, eggs…all with bacon on the side.
And I would never turn down a good bagel with lox and cream cheese!
I also can’t eat right after waking. Too many years of working out first thing in the early am. I could never run after eating anything. Before marathons, I would wake up in the middle of the night eat a bagel or banana so it would be well digested by the start time.
I do eat ‘“breakfast” (aka homemade protein bar), but it’s 4+ hours after I wake up. I’m not sure if that counts. It’s still only at 8am…
I LOVE breakfast food - but for dinner.
I could eat breakfast for dinner once a week, and I also am a non-breakfast eater in the morning. I like to say that I’ve been intermittent fasting since way before it was cool. (Although apparently the milk and sugar in my coffee negates the positive effects but whatever).
For fellow non-breakfast eaters:
I can easily skip dinner but have to have something more than coffee in the morning! I guess we are old enough that we have learned to listen to our bodies and do what they tell us. ![]()
I’ve eaten the same breakfast and almost the same lunch for many years- it’s boring, I know! Plain yogurt+berries+nuts/seeds a couple hours after getting up and a big green salad for lunch. Mostly I eat the same daily so I don’t have to think/plan much. I like to cook but admit cooking/ planning every dinner gets old for me.
If he would make it weekly, hubby’s chicken cacciatore. I don’t eat pasta, however. Or rarely do.
I’m the opposite. I never eat breakfast, just coffee. I just am not hungry. Many times I do eat breakfast type food for “lunch”.
You just eat a very late breakfast! ![]()
@vwlizard , headed to New England next week. Lobster and scallops, here I come! Yum.
that’s me too!!
I wonder if the no breakfast eaters are morning exercisers. I wake at 6:15, exercise myself and the dog between 6:30 and 7:30. By nine my body says “feed me”! Nothing but water before that time.
I’m also surprised that so many have a standard practice of yogurt and berries - good for you of course assuming it’s relatively low sugar - no cottage cheese fans?? I like yogurt but default to cottage cheese if I have it.
My yogurt of choice is unsweetened Greek yogurt! I like cottage cheese but yogurt is what we always keep on hand in case a grandkid visits (they all are yogurt eaters). And I don’t put my fresh berry mix into the yogurt. ![]()
I like my plain Siggi’s yogurt. Cottage cheese is an afternoon food for me:)
Since starting a GLP-1 breakfast is a nonstarter for me. When I was working I’d have something with a little protein to keep me going for the six hours until lunchtime, but now, coffee is the only thing I can handle (and even that can be a challenge).
But a turkey sandwich on whole wheat or toasted sourdough at lunch is always nice. Preferably with non parasite lettuce. And mac and cheese is always on the menu.
It may seem funny but for some of us, exercise is a lifeline in many ways - physically and mentally.
I understand, but I don’t have that gene.
I can’t stand cottage cheese. I was well over 50 before I learned to eat any yogurt. Now I can do plain Greek yogurt, but I prefer something like berries in it as opposed to eating it plain.
I have cottage cheese and cantaloupe every morning. I get up, have a cup of coffee, read two newspapers, shower, then eat.
