<p>Are you applying for engineering? Does our preferred major may increase or decrease chances of admissions in LAC? I want to major in social sciences. And, what shud i do to show colz tht i really wanna study it??</p>
<p>hey, i am considering doing engineering too. however i am not applying to engineering-focused schools like mit but rather schools with a more broad curriculum like that of northwestern because i’m certain that i will want to couple my engineering degree with an abstract subject like literature or philosophy. (social sciences are also in my radar).</p>
<p>Most liberal arts colleges don’t offer Engineering degrees. The ones that do are very difficult to get into, like Swarthmore!
@Horcrux: MIT is getting more diverse by the year in terms of fields of majors. But still it’s good to have many options in your college. I had this mad dream about getting into MIT but now that I am nearing application deadline, I am thinking, “Nah, I want more options for majors!” Because although I like engineering now, I want to be in a college where I could say Engineering’s not for me if the need arose!
Not bashing MIT though!</p>
