The farewell thread

Wow…some of these “blast from the past” names…Carolyn, Berurah, bceagle, BulletandPima, and so on.

We still hear occasionally from Curmy…he’s been just awesome on the premed forums. Best wishes for his DD as she will soon Residency Match.

We also haven’t heard from Sikorsky for a while… he dropped off about the time of the “upgrade” (cough) to the site.

Bullett checked in not too long ago in the bragging thread!

Miss everyone mentioned in the prior posts! BC, curmudgeon, Northstarmom, mini, marite, Hindoo… Hope things are ok for them. Miss the kiddos who used to be active in the parents’ cafe!

I forgot about aibarr, who dedicated the spandrels she incorporated into the design of a children’s hospital to latetoschool. For those who are feeling nostalgic, here’s a link to the main lts thread:

Recognize and remember so many of these. Remember hmom5?

I may not be recognizable because I do not post a lot. But I have been on here a long time and have read a lot.

aibarr is doing great. She has a new baby! She and I have a lot in common - we are both structural engineers and pianists, and have connections to Texas.

Back in those years when I was still a lurker on CC and was eager to know as much as about Rice (which was DS’s “dream school” back then), I read the posts from both anxiousmom and aibarr with an earnest interest. One from the parent’s point of view and the other from the newly graduated alumnus’s point of view.

I remember that aibarr’s then BF (or fiancé?) was a music major (in the PhD program with the emphasis in composing?) and she took many music classes as a civil engineering major. It seems she likes her 4-years non-academic side of life in Texas better than her 2 years non-academic side of life in Illinois. (I guess most would naturally enjoy their UG years more, at least this was the case for DS.)

Anyone knows where is sakky?

I think of Marite frequently - she was a huge help to me behind the scenes early on. I miss BCEagle. As time goes on, I don’t have much to contribute to the college threads, but almost always enjoy chatting in the cafe.

I think all the ones I thought of have been mentioned…been here since 2003, I believe. Nice to be reminded of those names.

I think I get a little on line “empty nest” when students who have posted a lot during their application year get accepted and move on with their lives. Of course they should do that, and CC has served its purpose for them. I wish them well!

I miss ema! If you are lurking, know that you are missed.

Mini sent me seeds IRL for tomatoes and eggplants. They turned out quite well!

Yep, been here well over a decade and recall the great advice and posts of marite, northstarmom, curmudgeon, carolyn, latetoschool, sunriseast and a number of the student posters who hung out in the Parents Cafe and contributed so much from a different point of view but always in a civil manner.

Happy new year!!

I miss the adventures of sluggbugg

You never know, they could be sitting in a both in the back in Sinner’s Alley amongst the peanut shells. Never did hear from crash again after she ran off with the towel boy :-"

I too have wondered about ema (did she ever post after her wedding?) and Niquii (spelling). My legacy (haha) here started in 2007. One more to put through college - so no plans to leave! - though honestly I have not been here much for D2 in the context of college info- I’m here more for just ME!!!

H5mom can’t be forgotten because one of her threads still is alive…the one about dressing young.

of course, citygrlsmom 's thread is super popular.

We’ve shared a lot of each other’s lives Remember Soozievt’s daughter’s car crash and eventual recovery? Curmudgeon’s fabulously funny trip across country… And yes, Aibarr and the children’s hospital spandrels.

I know Emmybet in real life, and she and her daughters are doing great. The younger one is graduating from college this spring. You should PM her, chocchipcookie.
