Watched the red carpet which I always enjoy. Missed the opening due to tv problems (rats! wanted to see that!).

How about Diane Keaton’s tribute to Woody Allen? I’m not a Woody fan in particular, but she sure had a stage presence when she spoke - every member of the audience was fully tuned in to her when they scanned the audience.

Wow, also just read and realized I TOTALLY forgot about the years ago accusations of sexual abuse by Woody to Mia’s adopted daughter…forgot about that fact about him.

I liked that all the major movies of the year were acknowledged in some way. I think American Hustle was singled out a couple more times than the others but overall it seemed like awards were handed out pretty evenly. I don’t like it as much when there’s one movie that wins everything…started to get predictable and boring.

Agree re: bad dresses. The dresses seemed to be mostly either too plain or plainly bad! Can someone please send Mary Lou Retton a nice, flattering dress that covers her knees? She wore a hideous mini number that, apparently, she wore a year or so ago to another gala. Ugh.

I agree that the dresses were bad! I thought the younger woman dressed like they were older (ex: Jennifer Lawrence). I did love Amy Adams dress and I loved Tina Fey’s red dress. I thought Olivia Wilde looked wonderful pregnant in the green, sparkly dress.

I split with showmom. Olivia Wilde did indeed look stunning. I liked, didn’t love, Jennifer Lawrence’s dress. I found it interesting, like a new take on a ballgown. I thought she looked age appropriate. Amy Adams, I think, showed too much pasty skin against a too-dark red dress. I mean, I like that she’s not spray-tanning to within an inch of her life (like Jennifer Lawrence), but against all that red it looked too severe. I would have liked if she wore the dress in another color. Also, her hair and makeup weren’t that great.

LOVED Juliana Margulies’ black and gold dress. My favorite of the night.
Hated Sandra Bullock’s dress.
And Lena Dunham needs a new stylist. Somehow those arm tattoos just don’t work with a strapless gown, ill-fitting at that.

No, I haven’t missypie. I love Jennifer Lawrence but the dress was ahem…lacking creativity. How did the designer come up with the design? Probably while staring at a sheet of bounty then grab the center, gather it, cut off the tip and tie a couple of black ribbons around it. Voila!

Edited to add: The best dressed was Chris Pine! As for the women, Lupita looked stunning in her red cape gown. Emma Roberts should give styling tips to her aunt Julia. I also liked the dress worn by Tatiana Maslaney. I’m not sure why Paula Patton was carrying a huge towel on her left shoulder. Julie Bowen eh.

Remember that the majority of these actresses don’t pick the dresses, but the stylists do. Many stylists have relationships with specific designers and push their clients to wear their designers. I just thought the majority of Golden Globe gowns were lackluster and will be wonderful fodder for Fashion Police on E!

I did read and laugh a bit of some of the comments re: Jennifer’s dress. But I also read that it was mostly a shame because she has such a great body to dress, and that dress did not show it off. So, glass half-full, it’s all a compliment!!! :)
