So glad you shared that. I’d forgotten about Hanna Anderson (bought clothes for our kids there years ago) until I hit a link for them when searching for a sun hat for GD1 two years ago. Theirs were not made in China, so acceptable to both mom and grandma. I should check the sale for GD2.
I always buy Sandra Boynton books for babies and toddlers. We can’t get enough of them. GD1 now enjoys many of the Little Golden Books. Her favorites are several of the Poky Little Puppy stories.
Oh, I love the little Golden Books!
22 month old GD had to use an inhaler to clear up her lungs after having a respiratory infection (not sure if it was RSV because the doctor ran out of tests). She was a real trooper for holding it to her nose for 10 min every 4 hours. I think it must have made her feel better or she wouldn’t be doing it. After 2 days of it she is feeling much better.
The doctor said to D1, “She should be better in few days, but if she can’t breath then get her to a hospital.” Not exactly the most assuring thing to say.
So sorry your GD is dealing with this. Glad she is much better!
At least the doc was direct and no wiggle room for guessing.
Lots of RSV and flu going around right now. D1 (ER doc) says it’s hitting really hard right now, especially the littles. This year’s flu is causing lots of vomiting and diarrhea as well as respiratory symptoms. D says she’s back to wearing N-95s at work since there’s a 2 month old in the house and she simply can’t risk him getting sick.
Flu has been at a ‘high’ in our state for the last week – and many waited to get flu vaccine. They are talking about other strains maybe hitting later, and the flu shot protection may help with a lot of the varied strains.
Flu and RSV, and whatever Covid - keeping vulnerable safe.
I do think many people who are around more vulnerable ages (the very young and the old) will consider masking and importance/greater diligence of hand washing, using hand sanitizers or wipes. More are careful about what is touched, not touching their face/eyes - washing their hands after blowing their nose. Taking care on shopping trips.
Mom60,
My kids say their 5 month old is now sleeping thru the night. How great for them.
Wow - sleeping through at 5 mos!! great!
Not trying to be obnoxious but GD turns 4 months today and has slept through the night for about a month. She clearly has D’s sleep gene.
D1 slept through the night when she was 6 weeks old (10pm-5 or 6am). D2 at 8 weeks was not sleeping through and every time I put her down flat in her crib she was crying, but when I have put her in her car seat she would sleep (like a baby). It turned out that she had a cold. As soon as she was able to breath better she was sleeping straight through the night. D2 turned out to be a much easier baby when it came to sleeping.
We had to let D1 cry it out at 9 months because she didn’t want to sleep by herself…
And then there’s my D, who didn’t sleep through the night until 9 months. One day when she was 9 months, she stood up in the middle of the family room, started walking, and never crawled again. She started sleeping through the night that very night. She was born wanting to walk & she was frustrated until she could do it!
My daughter always slept through the night. She spent 3 months in the NICU so came home at 3 months old (but the equivalent of 36 weeks) and I had to wake her up to feed her several times in the night (but she often just slept). She was not a morning person and would eat and go right back to sleep. Even at day care she rarely said a word before noon, just sort of went through the motions.
Yes, I paid the price with DD#2. Adopted at 2.5 yrs, I don’t think she slept through the night until she went to K (when exhaustion took over and she slept for 12 solid hours a day).
I only could get older DD to sleep from 11 pm to 5 am at 7 months. DD2 at 1 month slept from 8 at night till 6 am. Easy! Eventually DD1 adopted to DD2’s bedtime schedule. They are 25 months apart in age. I kept DD2 in a basinet by my bed until she had the great sleep schedule.
My pediatrician and I thought my son was a Houdini. Here I am, a professional, working with the leading sleep expert for children in the 1980’s, and nothing was working. My son would go to sleep, but I’d wake up with him in my bed! The crib sides would be up, so how did he get out? Pediatrician suggested I put a mattress by the crib, so he wouldn’t fall on the wood floor. No cameras back then. A mystery that will never be solved
My kids were great escape artists as well, including out of car seats and cribs. S became a rock climber—2nd nature to him.
Did you work for Richard Ferber (Ferber method)? My pediatrician recommended trying the Ferber method and I used it with my younger daughter. It worked! She was born 6 weeks early and really didn’t sleep through the night until she was almost a year old.
Yes. We shared a long term case, but I didn’t work with him on sleep issues. His book was already out. I did ask questions.
D, SIL and 3 year old GD flew in yesterday and GD had fever. She has has a bit of a cough on and off for over a week; pediatrician did not want to see her as they are over extended with RSV, Covid and the flu. GD was acting fine and you would have no clue she was sick other than looking at her eyes. This morning she had a temp of 102, so took her to a pediatrician friend’s group. She had an ear infection and they test for the flu; received a call a while ago; guess who has the flu?
The 4 adults in the house are going on Tamaflu. I am hosting Thanksgiving at our clubhouse for 20; GD will stay home, and her mom and dad will split coming over for dinner. I am thinking the 4 of us will sit at a separate table, and wear a mask when not eating. All guest have been notified, and as of right now, everyone still wants to come. My 91 yo mother is disappointment as she was coming to the house early to help with a couple of things and visit with GD. I don’t want anyone inside the house that hasn’t already been exposed.
So…how is everyone else’s Thanksgiving going?
So sorry- glad you at least know and could take tamiflu.
