GD is so active on our daily video chats. She shows me letter cards and expects me to read back to her. She is saying bye now without reminders at the end of conversation in addition to waiving her hand. She is so unbelievably cute!
Finishing up a week at a Rhode Island beach house. Three sons, three DIL’s and four grandkids 7,5,4,2.5. Had a great time. Always sad to see it end. Man, we’ve had some fantastic food. And we got a great family photo on the beach dressed in our blues, whites and khakis. Love it.
@jym626 : Have you ever thought of moving closer to them??
DH is still working. And one of the 2 sons may or may not stay in that area. We’ve talked about it, since we have no family nearby and we keep breaking stuff (!!) so
At some point we may consider it.
I get to spend at least one day a week with GD, and it’s really interesting to see the changes she is undergoing. She moved into the preschool room at daycare, and I can see the positive effects of being around older kids (she is 3.5). She is more interested in reading now, talks about letters and counts a lot. She still loves to play make believe, and H & I are usually kitties. GD directs everything! She rides a bike with training wheels, and we got her one to keep at our house. She was gifted a Hot Wheels Mustang by the neighbor, whose grandson outgrew it. We live on a cul-de-sac, so she can ride around our street without worrying about traffic the way she has to at home. I’m looking forward to August - I will be watching her twice a week, plus I am staying with her & their dog for a weekend. She will start kindergarten in two years, so I make sure to watch her whenever possible!
We survived one night with Little Miss Mess without her parent nearby. The new annoying sound-making toys were a big hit (and gave us a small break). She kept pointing to the water table on the deck, but it was already close to her bedtime, so we skipped water play. I guess today will be a big water play day! I filled the kiddie pool, too.

This is something I’ve tried to convey to D and SiL without much success. They’re getting older GD up earlier each morning but not getting her to bed earlier at night to compensate. As a result, she’s been tired and cranky when she comes here. It does not bode well for when school starts in two weeks. I worry, but what else is new?
Such a great photo. I love how the kids have such great sun protection suits. So much easier than fighting to get the sunscreen everywhere.
These rash guard style swim suits are great!

Easy on, easy off!
I grow pineapples, so this suit was appropriate. I was pleased GS likes it so much, wears it around the house
I bought their girls’ version for younger GD because of the leg coverage. I wish that more girls’ swimsuits were made that way, in bigger sizes as well as toddler sizes. We have a Ledge Lounger slide for our GDs, and it’s nice to have that thigh coverage.
In prior years, Target sold swim shorts for girls that I paired with a rash guard top for older GD. Sadly, they weren’t stocked this year. The old ones still fit, but aren’t likely to work next summer. I found some American made swim shorts and am hoping they go on sale at the end of the season. If they do, I’ll buy several.
This brand is more expensive but they have swimsuits that cover the entire leg. I’m not sure how large they go. My grandkids have an assortment of brands even Quince sells them.
My daughter likes this brand
Can you post the item??
Land’s End sell mix and match swim sets including long sleeve rash guards and swim shorts and swim skirts ( both with built in panty) for girls. Sizes 2 thru 16.
I hot suckered in by cuteness and bought a a Ruffle Butts suit for Little Miss Mess. Never again! Trying to put it on her was like wrestling an oil coated alligator. The Carter’s suits have a break apart zipper like those used on coats so absolutely no fuss if one needs to take the suit off for an emergency swim diaper change!

My GD wears swim shorts and rash guards only. Some are unisex, some probably sold for boys. She’s five and they work perfectly. And then they can get passed down to her little brother.
