My DIL is 38 weeks today so we will be first time grandparents of a baby boy very soon!
Congratulations to all of you with grandchildren coming!

We all will be ‘surprised’ with this coming grandbaby - #5 and ‘the tie breaker’ - they have two girls and two boys. Anthony Leo or Antonia Marie.

D was in 5th grade and fell off her bike on a school outing. Both front teeth it sounds like similar to what you are describing. She got some kind of root closing and a filling? anyway the dentist who did the emergency repair said it will probably need another thing later in life. She is 38 and you still cannot tell.

My S broke his 2 front teeth in 5th grade, diagonally across the front of each tooth (ran into a basketball pole playing football on the playground.) He had root canal and bonding. He was a real trooper for the root canal, no issues. He did have issues with the bonded part of the teeth breaking off periodically throughout his growing years, as these were a temporary fix until he reached adulthood. To compensate, he just learned to not bite apples and firm things with his front teeth. In his mid-twenties he had the teeth permanently bonded and no issues since. Hope today was a better day for your crew!

I highly recommend Primary.com. Almost everything is in primary colors. You can pick colors like yellow or green that aren’t seen as single sex. It’s having a big sale right now. End of season, but you may want to stock up.

Thanks for the link. They have some cute stuff!

My kids loved bright, bold colors, and back then, primary colors were the trend for babies. They were said to be great for visual and brain development. Who knows—maybe this generation of kids will grow up loving the muted color palettes their parents are into now. It does make me wonder if that primary color thing was backed by science or just pseudoscience.

congrats

I should be in the Primary hall of fame for how much I buy there. GKs always have their puffer winter coats–this year GD is in purple and GS is in orange. Easy to spot them on the playground!

Yes, that’s very important! I want the kids to be very visible especially in poor light and/or waiting for the school bus. This morning my DS25 was leaving for a college visit and he asked me at the last minute for one of those reflective sashes

Wow on the hurdles DD2 has had, and so glad all looks good. Are they wanting to be surprised about the sex with birth, or will they announce the sex once they will know?

Hopefully she will continue to have a good pregnancy.

DD1 just had an anatomical ultrasound (she is in her 3rd trimester) to check on the baby, and all is good. We are getting closer and closer!

God and science willing my daughter will be starting her pregnancy journey this coming fall.

She already has embryos that are genetically tested so we are so hopeful that she will be able to carry a child.

Congratulations to you and your family. What a wonderful blessing it is

I’m proud of D for surviving everything she already has. She one tough young woman. (BTW, in case I haven’t mentioned it lately, she’s a OB/GYN who works with at risk populations.)

I don’t know about announcing the sex to the world (she & husband are very private people), but she’ll definitely tell family and some of her closest friends.

I already have twin grand daughters and a grand son. On her husband’s side, there’s already both a grand son and grand daughter–so whatever sex the baby turns out to be, there will plenty of hand me downs.

Speaking of kids’ clothes, I babysat our 20-month old Little Miss Mess yesterday evening. She came from the daycare wearing pink kitty socks, brown fuzzy pants, and a black Nirvana tee over a long sleeve shirt.

We are going to Hawaii with the big kids and their little ones, and I am seriously considering buying the kids bright neon pink or orange swim suits. Apparently, magenta and similar bright pink colors are the most visible colors in both pool and ocean water.

Wishing your daughter the best possible outcome.

I think that is a great idea. I bought bright red and aqua trunks for my boys for years for that reason. (And not too baggy either, because I read something else disturbing about bathing suits getting caught on drain edges.)

I was going to wait a bit to announce this but I’m joining the party! D and SIL are expecting baby 2 in August!

Be careful. That might be great in a pool, but some bright colors are attractive to sharks. They might think your GKs are tropical fish. And, no, I’m not joking. Google the specific colors before buying.

OK I seriously never knew that. I do not want to dress up my grandson as a tropical fish and/or bait for a predator!! Maybe lock everyone in a tower for 15 years

DD1 (my daughter with children) had a ‘reveal’ party with their friends for the first two in the community they had a lot of friends. The first was with the cake, the second was with ‘poppers’. I was very surprised their second was a boy, because I thought she would have a second girl (we only have two daughters and no sons). She has girl, boy, boy, girl, and now the fifth as the ‘tie breaker’.

Nice that she has family on both sides that have children. DDs are close to some of their first cousins who have children, and they enjoy getting together when they can. One is in their state and just about an hour away, so they have gotten together with ‘kid activity’.

I’m right next to you in the Primary HOF. Their clothes hold up well and make good hand-me-downs. This winter, the grand kids are sporting puffer jackets in jelly, spruce, and cobalt. We did a few crowded holiday events and it was easy to keep an eye on the little jelly beans.
