Then a scooter it is!
lol, that’s his cousin.
At seven months GS started daycare today. GD is excited baby brother is now going to her “ school “. Looks like so far he is enjoying it. But he’s a friendly little guy and likes to check out anything new/ different so seeing different toys, hearing different music , having the teachers and other little ones around will be entertaining for him. I think he got FOMO from me.
ETA: it’s Spanish immersion, he’s been exposed to some Spanish via his grandparents (abuelos) and SIL reading both kids in Spanish.
I couldn’t reply to @skieurope on the no reply thread…Frozen is my 5 year old GD1’s favorite song, so I often have it play in my head, but I don’t know what your excuse is, other than it’s a great song.
3.5 year old GD sings “Let It Go” all the time!
It is Away, away here
! Aka We Know the Way” from Moana.
My daughter sent a voice message of my 3 year old granddaughter belting out “let it go” at full volume from the back seat on the drive to preschool.
Wait until those little ones are 5-8 year olds; you will then hear a lot of Taylor Swift and KPop Demon Hunters! Local 1st grade GD is going to sing a KPop Demon Hunters song for the school talent show.
In my car she likes to listen to KIDZ BOP, and sometimes Disney on XM.
Oh GD also sings Taylor Swift, Bad Bunny and Chappel Roan.
A few years ago DS picked me up from the airport with GD in her seat in the back. She – then aged three – started belting out, “I like to move it move it”!! I always thought it was kind of vulgar, but apparently it’s in the movie Madagascar.
I think GD7 would be too shy to sing it on stage, but the first time we heard Golden was watching the movie with her, and she belted out those high notes impressively!
GD is not shy about going on stage -at her preschool show last fall the problem was getting her OFF the stage!
Meanwhile GS had a good second day at daycare. I think he’s enjoying the action.
I might not have mentioned this before but both kids have July birthdays and are Leo’s. It totally tracks.
Lovely day with GS. Started with church where he was great in service. I tell story to his Sunday School class and today was super fun because kids were into it (TBH– its a story I hate). We then came back to our house for lunch, failed effort at nap and great 90+ minute trip to park. Ended with trip to dinner at our Sunday place, as we were leaving a friend we hadn’t seen in months came in so we ditched family to hang out and drink more, Apparent GA was super confused when he and parents came to our house and Grandma and Pappa weren’t there.
Local GD finally lost her first tooth! If you were to ask her, she is the ONLY one in her class that has not lost a tooth! She is also the shortest in the class, so now she only has one thing to be upset about!
This GD will be 7 in June and is tiny, which we are all surprised about as he father is 6’4” and my daughter is 5’10”. I tell her she is going to take after the short side of the family, as we are all short, even the guys! My son’s daughter is a good head taller than all her friends, and has lost 8 teeth already; she was 7 in October, so both girls are in 1st grade.
Now if GD could have a growth spurt, she would be on cloud 9!
As long as her feet reach the floor, she’s doing OK. (That’s what I used to tell my 5’ 6” son.)
Being short gives you more options. If you want to be tall, you could always wear high heels. But if you are tall, then you could never be shorter.
GD1 is 5 and is getting into family relationships, more specifically on how we are related. She talks about that I am her Mom and her aunt’s mom. Her Dad’s Mom and Dad are Gigi and Papa. She asked me last weekend who is her Mom’s Dad. I told her it’s her Grandpa. I am anticipating that she will ask me soon why Grandpa and I do not live together, and why is he with (married) another wife.
I would like to hear from you what is a short (loving) response I could give her.
I have consulted AI and one response was - “Sometimes when people get older they are happier not living together. Both Grandpa and I love you very much.” But I am concerned that she may worry her parents would decide not to live together someday.
My son was among the shortest in his cohort until he was about 14.
He topped out at 6’4" !
When my daughter was dating, her most important qualification in a perspective date was he had to be taller than her in heels! I guess her husband fit the bill at 6” taller than she is! ![]()
In my house, I just yell for “tall person” to get things down from higher shelves if they are around. My GD is very sensitive, so being shorter than her classmates and lack of a lost tooth weighs on her. Add to that her food allergies that everyone has to know about, and not being able to have foods at birthday party upset her at times. She is doing better, but will have a pity party at times.
S has food allergies and had more when he was younger. It was a sticky topic for him. He hated sitting at the allergy table in elementary school and when well meaning parents brought in a class treat he couldn’t have. So I feel for your GD.
