Sitting here patiently awaiting word of our little man’s arrival. They went to the hospital around 2pm. She’s making progress, but he apparently is not in a hurry!

After a long night, our perfect little 7lb bundle has arrived! Everyone is happy and healthy. I can’t wait to see his almost 2 years old big sister’s reaction when she meets him.

Family tally…4 granddaughters and 1 grandson. Two in the last 5 weeks!

Due to the snow/ice weather event, our two daughters and two grandkids spent the night and had breakfast with us before heading out. A real gift for Nana to see them all! GD turns 3 in May, GS turns 2 in July, and baby #3 due early Sept. And I retire the end of Sept! They had traveled to see their 91 YO grandma before she went into Skilled Care and also visiting with other relatives there including young cousin’s kids age 4 and 7.

S and DIL welcomed second GD a few days ago. She came several weeks early, weighing in at just over 5 lbs. As she passed all tests pediatrics performed, she was given okay to go home. S says she’s doing quite well.

Quarantine is complete and we were able to have an outdoor, masked, zoom baby naming.

Now I am fully vaccinated, D1 is going to let me come over to babysit next weekend. I am required to quarantine for a week before I go over (no dining out, no leaving the apartment), but it is a price I am willing to pay.
GD had her one month checkup today and she gained 2 lbs.

My GD is now two months!! At her last appointment, her pediatrician felt that she should see an orthopedic specialist because her hips were loose (it’s called hip dysplasia). My daughter took Baby N to an orthopedic specialist who gave her a brace (it’s called a Pavlik harness), which she has to wear for 6-8 weeks. The specialist was pretty confident that this brace would solve the problem (basically it keeps the baby’s hip in the socket). My D is beside herself and I keep trying to calm her down but she’s really upset. I know she’ll have to work out her fears but I feel bad. I had totally forgotten that she (my D) had the same issue when she was born and I don’t know if they didn’t have a brace back then (35 years) but I had to use triple diapers for 8 weeks!! I totally forgot that happened, until now.

H and I will have both vaccines by March 3rd and then we’ll wait two weeks and drive out (MA to IN) to see GD. We FaceTime almost every day and I’m amazed at the changes and can’t wait to see her in person.

WOW @Bromfield2 made me realize a family friend’s daughter very much had a loose hip that must have been out of joint at birth and did not have a good orthopedic answer at the time (or may not have sought out a University Pediatric Orthopedic specialist.) She never could ride a bike due to the impairment.
