The Great British Baking Show Season 3

I have to watch season 1 and 2 again as I don’t remember watching it. I really like the casting of season 3. I think I read somewhere that the participants are selected from approximately 8000 applications.

I guess we have one last hoorah coming from the BBC sometime next year.

I have Mary Berry in my FB feed and I just saw that the American holiday version is coming back on December 1. While I prefer the British show, this one will be still be worth my time.

@@VU0609 I saw an advertisement for that. It won’t be the same as the British show but I think I would still like to watch it.

I watched last year and you are right, @raclut. Not the same - fewer contestants and a different atmosphere, but still something worthwhile during a time when lots of regular shows have moved to their winter hiatus.

I found Junior Bakeoff UK on youtube.

PBS is offering the Great British Bake Off Master Classes with Mary & Paul via streaming for a bit. I’m hoping that means I can stream them on my Amazon Fire Stick via the PBS app.

50 Amazing facts about the Great British Bakeoff

I hesitated to play the video, @raclut, as it’s almost 10 minutes long, but it was very interesting. Thanks for sharing!

That was interesting. Thanks for sharing it. I didn’t know they had to change the name because “bake off” is copyrighted.

I believe the American version of this show starts December 1st.

I tried looking at season 3 on you tube, they got snagged for copyright violation and you tube pulled them:(

The BBC is not having a good year, their reboot of “Top Gear” is a disaster of a snore fest (meanwhile the three original hosts just launched a program on Amazon called “The Grand Tour” that apparently is doing well), now they managed to lose the Bake Off by being, well, British, with their insistence it was a documentary program, instead of what it obviously is,an entertainment show (guess the guys in the Bowler hats who keep the bureaucracy going won that one…)

@musicprnt Did you try this link?

The show that is starting on Dec. 1 is the Holiday Bake Off, with Mary Berry, Nia Vardalos and her husband.

@MADad I am looking forward to the Holiday Bakeoff in December. I hope the baking tasks are more at a beginner level that I could try out.

The Great American Baking Show starts tonight! I’m glad Mary Berry will be involved and look forward to seeing the new episodes.

Oops, I meant season 4, which was up on you tube (and not seen on PBS yet, likely until next year)…I saw season 3 on PBS, I am a member so can watch it relatively easily:).

Don’t forget tonight at 9pm on ABC.

THE GREAT AMERICAN BAKING SHOW 9 p.m. on ABC. Mary Berry — who recently left fans as deflated as a fallen cake by announcing her departure from “The Great British Bake Off” — brings her culinary wizardry to this American spinoff alongside her fellow judge Johnny Iuzzini and the married hosts Nia Vardalos and Ian Gomez. Each episode — and yes, there’s a decked-out tent — features three segments: a signature bake, a technical challenge and a showstopper bake. In the first of back-to-back episodes, 10 home bakers must create Bundt cakes inspired by winter flavors before tackling Ms. Berry’s recipe for apple almond cake and, finally, fantastical multitiered holiday celebration cakes. Hour 2 will feature bar cookies, biscotti and elaborate 3-D scenes constructed from frosted cookies.

I am watching!

Hopefully I will be able to bake some of these recipes. Bundt cake should not be intimidating. Looking forward to this season.
