Last Year:
16 reported being accepted by 05-26-2009, post #1053. Everyone who was accepted from the thread heard on the 19th, 20th, and 21st which was a Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. This was probably the first wave.

Next wave seemed to happen on the 12th of June with about 6-10 more students from the thread accepted from the 14th to the 29th of June.

In last year’s thread the Z-list acceptances were scattered and seemingly random (although probably based on hooks which are impossible to confirm).

As always, we are in Qizixite’s debt.

JenRocket is right. We need a new subtopic. Summer plans is a good one. Or how about Summer Haikus! Better yet, explain the Lost Finale. That will keep us busy for weeks.

NOOOOOOOOO Don’t talk about the Lost finale. A few years ago I got stuck on season 3 and I plan on finishing it sometime soon… Hopefully…

And guys, you can stop complimenting me. I appreciate it but am doing it for my sake just as much as I am doing it for yours.

I recently saw a game called hit/miss. If the statement applies to you, write “hit.” Otherwise write “miss.” Either way, add a new statement.

For example, “I have been to over twenty states.”
“Hit”
Now its your turn;
My favorite ice cream store/place is not a major brand (like ben & jerrys)

I keep checking on everyone, it seems I have gotten addicted even after my daughter’s turn down. Good luck again to all of you. My daughter is finally looking for a room mate and planning shopping at the Container Store and Ikea. I hope all of you have a great year where ever you end up!

qizixite,

Turns out the salutatorian at my high school is still on the (extended) waitlist. She does not wish to post here but if you want to list her we could call her “plumasfriend”. She currently plans to attend the UMd Clark School on a full scholarship … hang in there everyone.

Thanks for saying high Plumazul. I’ll add your friend to the list.

Random question: does anyone know how many actual days of high school one is required to have? I’m sure it varies by state, but I just realized that I spend less than half of my year actually in school. Strange!

It’s supposed to be 180 in New Jersey, but my private school manages with about 160. And less for seniors.

haha, i love that the more we pay for school the less we have to go.
do they require a certian number of “school” days for home schooled kids too? i always wondered how that worked…

as for the rest of us 180 is the national average, and states all have requirements ranging either above or below, except for minnesota, which doesnt feel inclined to set silly requirements and therefore has none for the number of days per year or hours per day. go minnesota!

and qizixite “My favorite ice cream store/place is not a major brand (like ben & jerrys)” is a hit, local places are so much better than tubs you by at stop and shop.

impossibleisfun, if you say hit/miss you need to say another statement.

isn’t it strange that going to school is our job yet we only have to be there for half of the year? What a great job.

At least for me, school is more than a 9-5 job (I don’t get out until 5:30), and with homework and studying it’s probably more than 8 hours a day for many people. Also, one key difference: you get paid for going to your job, so it makes sense to go there often :)

Sorry for my typo two posts back!

I’m a longtime lurker who just now decided to take the plunge and actually post. I was put on the extended waitlist and plan on going to UVA if it doesn’t work out with Harvard. Any news on a timetable for when Admissions might send out the next wave? What about z-list?

Well I’m nannying this summer. I’ll be going to Colorado for the first time, so I’m pretty excited for that.

Jenrocket: I hope you’re going somewhere in the Rockies – a beautiful, amazing place to spend a summer.

Anyone hear anything from admissions? When it is over I wonder how long it will take to shake the “I almost got into Harvard” feeling…brings to mind the Great Gatsby. Tee-shirts anyone? LOL We are a special group, all of us resilient if nothing else!

No kidding, Floridahopeful! Haha. I really wiseh they’d just tell us already, I’m tired of answering when people ask where I’m going, “Most likely Penn but I’m waiting to hear from Harvard.”
Any news at all? Anyone?

No news at all. My daughter said last night that she is getting so tired of answering the “where are you going to college” question with “University of Texas BUT still waiting to hear back from Harvard.” Closure would be nice…

No kidding, Floridahopeful! Haha. I really wiseh they’d just tell us already, I’m tired of answering when people ask where I’m going, “Most likely Penn but I’m waiting to hear from Harvard.”
Any news at all? Anyone?

Hopefully within a week or two we’ll all get some news…even if it’s bad.

Lurking parents, first time post. Our daughter was contacted this week by her admissions officer so that she could meet the person she was advocating for. They are deliberating next round now and still toeing the line of completion by end of June; our expection is that they’ll be doing more announcements next week as has been indicated earlier in this post. All the adm officer could offer was that this year, there were very few slots available which we all knew.

We’ve been so impressed by the quality of candidates on this thread - good luck to all of you!! You’ll be hugely successful wherever you go.
