this is nerve-wracking and frustrating. i hope they get in touch with us soon :/

so i’m shamelessly annoying and called for like the third time this week (didn’t say my name though, haha)

NOW i’m told decisions will be coming “probably early next week.” ughhh. that date will keep getting pushed back.

I just called for my daughter and was told the next round of decisions will come out on the 7th or 8th of June…

I heard “very few” will be accepted this round. Does this mean in the first wave all 65-75 planned accepts had been offerred, and we the extended waitlistees are at the mercy of those who turn down harvard’s offer to take them off the WL?

That seems likely, although there might be a few more slots from accepted students who choose to defer or change their mind.

For most of us, Godot probably isn’t gonna come.

It’s possible that they say “very few spots” regardless of how many actually remain so that people aren’t as upset when they get rejected. Although it obviously doesn’t matter in the long run, I think people would feel a lot worse if they called and heard, “Yeah, there are still tons of spots left,” before getting the bad news.

But did you block the caller ID? I think you will now go to the extended extended WL because they know who you are. JK.

Thanks for sharing that info with the frustrated extended WL folks on CC.

1) how did you “hear” that there would be “very few” acceptances? directly from the admissions office?
2) does this include “z-list”?

Good luck, you guys! I empathize :(.

@Pretzellogic. 1) Yes. I spoke to an admissions officer. 2) I don’t know. Didn’t ask about the Z-list.

I also heard that they would release the next wave of decisions around the 7th or 8th. The woman with whom I spoke said this would not be the last wave of decisions.

Hi all,

I just wanted to let you know that my regional admissions director (private school, MA) called my cell phone at 2:30 this afternoon and offered me a place in the class of 2015. She said an acceptance packet was on the way, and that I would have two weeks to make a decision. I accepted on the spot!

It has been my pleasure to be in your ‘company’ on this thread; together, we have shared many emotions. I wish each and every one of you the best of luck!

Matt

Congratulations dx1992!
I hope you have an excellent gap year!

Congratulations dx1992!
what’s your plan for gap year?

It’s only been a few hours so I’m still giving it some thought!

Matt

Congrats, dx! It’s nice to finally see some movement. Any speculation as to why you were offered a gap year? Did you ask for one?

Seems like a few schools are doing this gap year to 2015. Maybe that is a good alternative, take a break for 1 yr…

I had mentioned to some school administration, who were in contact with Dean Fitzsimmons and my regional admissions rep., that I would consider a gap year. Fitzsimmons responded that it gave the admissions committee some “flexibility”.

I’m not a legacy, but had significant alumni calling Fitzsimmons, etc.; perhaps that is why I was z-listed?

Matt

Thank you sharing with us

hey everyone in a rush but i just got into harvard! keeping my fingers crossed for everyone on this thread you guys are all amazing!! :D
