MofWC, so sorry to hear about the cat! Oh, poor fella :(, could not bear the stress. Hang in there, MofWC, take a deep breath, you are doing fine, we are with you!
(I have a 15-yr old diabetic cat who is an absolute angel. I’d hate to see her go, but the moment might be coming soon…)

Sorry about your kitty.

My condolences. I spent the day worrying about my cat. H said he heard a racket outside this morning. Opened the door to see said cat facing off with a fox. She ran in… ate breakfast… then wanted to go right back out. Came straggling in late this afternoon, thank God. These pets do put us through the ringer. Sounds like yours had a good life, though, with an untimely end. Hope your D wasn’t too close. We’re rooting for you!

Sorry to hear about kitty, but wasn’t s/he gracious to depart before the wild weekend to come. The timing might be a blessing.

Any chance that you can have some down time just for you in the next couple days? It sounds like your H is a smart guy to get in a bike ride, the deck painting, etc.

This female cat (Jelly Bean) went to Houston to live with my D in her college apt when we moved to Tennessee in 2006. When D and fiance moved to TN a few weeks ago, we got her back. Allegedly, they were only allowed to have one cat in their rented house. In actuality, they wanted to unload her on us because she was pooping on the bed and elsewhere. We sent her to Houston in the first place so she could be an only cat, but they wound up getting a Ragdoll kitten, too. So- she had thyroid problems and was down to 6 pounds, so we knew it wouldn’t be long. My sister pointed out that our beloved great-aunt died right before her (my sister’s) wedding, so Jelly Bean was doing the same thing!

Limousines are expensive, but wedding dresses (on brides) don’t fit into regular vehicles. I’m learning a lot about all this.

Karen- Thanks. I am a pro at getting time for myself. I run every morning (I still run competitively) and that helps me keep my sanity. I read at night and we are still watching Law and Order reruns in the evenings. Tonight might be the last night of that, though. I will work through tomorrow and take Thurs and Fri off- yesterday wasn’t supposed to be a day off, but I was with WildChild at the surgical center all day managing things with my Blackberry. I have been told that the Blackberry does not come to the wedding.

Too bad there isn’t sound on C.C. Every time I open this thread I start humming the tune from “The Martins and the Coys” which my Dad sang to us when we were kids.

…“Oh, the Martins and the Coys, they were reckless mountain boys, and they took up family feuding when they’d meet
They could shoot each other quicker than it took an eye to flicker, they could knock a squirrels eye out at 90 feet…”
(sorry, this doesn’t flow in the conversation, but the tune has been staying with me all day…)

MomWC, it sounds like you have everything well in hand. Have fun, good luck, and best wishes this weekend.

So sorry to hear about the kitty. Even when expected it’s never easy. Can WC dig a hole in the backyard out of sight of guests?
We had a wedding with wierd grandmas… evidently both had fueded over the years but memory loss had smoothed things enough that the MOG put them both in the same room. Bad plan. Gma 1 caught me in the hall and asked for help with the phone - I sent in H, who discovered Gma 2 was naked right out of the shower at the time. Later, Gma 2 discovered her ancient pantyhose no longer had any elastic and were falling down at the reception - I ended up in the restroom trying to gather up a knot to tie them over her boney hips. She refused to just take them off under her long gown… ladies don’t to that, although they ask relative strangers to tie up thier undies!

Anyone wondering how that rehearsal dinner is going tonight?

I’m sure it is very … entertaining?

I’ll bet MomWC won’t have a spare moment to give us the next installment until Sunday. Unless she needs to vent.

have a wonderful wedding day for your darling daughter and her talented groom, MOWC.
somehow I know you personally will be responsible for many of the best memories of the occasion for them both…
we look forward to hearing about this passage in your life…and to anticipating what this union will bring in terms of good karma to this ailing world.

Thanks, everyone. It hit me at the rehearsal that my little girl is getting married. This is the real deal. Not sure I can hold it together!
The rehearsal dinner went perfectly. My sister is a masterful entertainer and got everything set up in the house (flowers, etc), got the caterers let in while we were at the rehearsal, got everything cleaned up… The warring parties were on their best behavior- no “incidents”. Granny was gracious and didn’t have horns. The bride and groom performed and the best man accompanied them on sax for a couple of numbers. It was all excellent. WildChild and others depleted the beer pretty fast, but he’s still standing (and he’s 21) so I guess it’s OK. The Golden Retriever didn’t score any food or hump any of the guests since we had him locked up in the master bedroom for most of the evening.
This time tomorrow it’s all over. Stay tuned. I am exhausted.

What a trooper… taking time out of your obligations to update us!

Thanks so much for filling us in, and I hope tomorrow goes as well as tonight.

Is it appropriate to say mazel tov! to a Postulant and her mother? If not, I never said it! I hope all goes well for you today.

Congratulations, MOWC! I just finished reading this entire thread - and you have certainly had your hands full! I’m sure the ceremony will be beautiful, and everything else will fall into place for you.

So sorry about your kitty.

Congratulations to MOWC and her entire family! Embrace the day and absorb all the wonderful feelings that will surround you and your family.

I have so enjoyed this thread - wishing you and your family a wonderful day, and more importantly a wonderful life together for your daughter and her groom!

Just a couple of sidebars…

I have two friends here who I met 10 years ago (separately) on the internet. I think it was in AOL forums. We have visited each other over the years and the friendships are strong and meaningful. Some of the older folks are shocked when they ask the “how do you know each other” question. It’s a different world.

WildChild has not tried on his tux, and Bride has learned from all the wedding blogs that something always is wrong with someone’s tux. He didn’t want to try it on while he had the tube and drain coming out of his knee (which was, thankfully, removed yesterday) and hasn’t “felt like it” since then. I hope it fits…

Sister of the Groom (former college soccer player who is out of eligibility but hasn’t been able to pass the math course she needs to graduate- she says she’s “on the six year plan”) was sending her little step-siblings (the “minis”, as WildChild’s girlfriend calls them) to fetch beer for her all evening.

The cupcakes were gorgeous and delicious. They were a huge hit.

My father was hospitalized (in California) last night- he has had complete, unexplained weakness. We are praying for him and are glad he didn’t try to make the trip.

It’s hot here- really hot. However, we can do hot. No rain, which is good. This is not outside, but Bride wants most of the pre-wedding pictures outside. Did I mention how hot it is? :)

Okay, MOWC, step away from the Blackberry :).

Or, maybe the wedding is an evening one.

Have a beautiful day, all of you. I’m sure WC will look wonderful even if the tux is not a perfect fit. And, of course, the bride will be Perfect.

Photos! We’ll want photos! The heat won’t show, I just know it.

Oh I so wish I was there…
Have a wonderful day!! Congrats to you all!!!
