We got a new refrigerator at work last week. It is a Kenmore Elite, which the delivery guy said was made by LG. He said LG is the best for refrigerators for reliability. He also said Samsung (which gets horrible reviews but makes a fridge the perfect size for my space) is made by GE. I did not know that. Very disappointed in GE, if that’s the case.
He also said that most dishwashers no longer have the heated dry option, but Whirlpool (and Kenmore) still do. I think he said the European ones (mentioned Bosch specifically) don’t have heated dry due to regulations in Europe. Haven’t checked this out–just throwing it out as something else to consider.
My newly bought Bosch DW for my pieds-à-terre needs rinse agent for the steam to dry the dishes but not the metal interiors.
My 18 year old Miele has steam drying but has a fan to draw the steam to vent outside so dishes and DW are both dry.
My Bosch is a 18" basic model while Miele 18" models are deluxe and cost the same as standard size.
I bought the Abbey vanity online 1 yr ago in white. Good quality. Needed 2 very young, strong men to more up a flight of stairs! Came with both chrome and brushed nickel fixtures. ( description said chrome )
Got 3 buckets of SW doctored aqua paint and 2 gallons of White Hyacinth (I think that’s the color) for the trim. I think we bought way too much aqua paint. Our house is a bunch of windows with a tiny bit of siding in between. I hate to throw out really good paint, but no way in hell I am keeping leftover paint! Just disposed of the 18 year old leftovers from House1. Egads. The lady at the paint store was quite impressed that we were planning a DIY house painting project. What else would we be doing? Watching TV? There is nothing good to watch anyway. Besides, we already own a fancy rolling scaffold on top of which I lived for 2 days last summer while painting the vaulted ceilings in MB during the hottest days of the year! If the neighbors make a squeak about the color, I am going to paint a large bloody eyeball on that side of the garage that faces their yard.
@notrichenough congrats on passing the rough inspections. Everything from this point on will be exciting as it transforms
Love the aqua color…as long as it is done just right with a balance of trim colors. But I’m sure you have a good plan. You have much more energy than I do. Not into painting up on ladders anymore
A bright orange would cause the neighbors get their pitchforks out! Folks on our street have no creativity. Almost every house is painted drab grey or poop brown, trim and all. Sad situation. There is an aqua painted house not too far from us, and it looks good and cheerful.
@coralbrook - I am too old for ladders, too! But we have that big platform for paint jobs, and that I can do. We will have a bunch of stained wood (back deck wrap and front entry), creamy white trim, brown windows and (for now) garage doors, and a little bit of that greyish aqua in between. It will not be too outrageous. We are not planning to sell any time soon… but never say never.
I’m not a fan of blue houses (or really any bold colors unless on a Victorian, for example.) but I wouidn’t care if my neighbors painted their homes that color. My house is putty colored (with white trim) and I love it. Plus, I have stone on part of the front and had to pick a color which complimented it.
DH and I would like to paint the front door on our gray, trimmed in white, ranch home. I’d like to find a nice red color, but where do I start? I don’t want rusty red, or maroon. Just regular red, if there is such a thing!
We painted the front door with Aura Grand Entrance paint from BM. I highly recommend that paint line for doors. Dutch Tulip is their red which is red red, not brick or purplish red. I think it will look awesome on a gray house with a white trim.
