)
@shadyconcepts That’s amazing! I know more than a few alum’s children who did not get accepted with pretty impressive transcripts. Admittedly, I don’t know those students’ SAT scores and your’s are strong. You must have had some great ECs and essays. Good luck and enjoy!

@bsalum I believe it was also my demonstrated interest - after getting deferred ED from Penn, I continued to update them periodically and wrote them a letter. To everyone reading this, that stuff really matters!
Bookmarking this thread and crossing my fingers, congratulations to all of you!

This a great thread!! Congrats to so many of you attending great schools.
My own son will fit right into this category. He is Mr. 90.2 man. A- in almost everything. He’s usually good for a B or B+ once a semester, and will offset that with one A every semester, ha
so predictable. The rest all A-'s. His end of the year grades on his transcripts are A- in every class.
Only took 1 honors as a freshman, all honors since then. No AP. Next year as a senior 2 AP classes. He’s kind of a late bloomer in everything.
His class rank stinks compared to some of the posters in this thread though, he might only be top 35% out of 385 kids. So, if schools consider class rank very important he is screwed.
29 ACT first time, and waiting on SAT scores still.
I’ll update this thread when we decide where he’s applying in the fall and let you know the results.
I wish your son the best of luck! He seems like a very bright student! @RightCoaster

@nishaus Congrats! What was your UW GPA?
This is my new favorite thread! My sons are finishing their sophomore and junior years of high school, and I plan to contribute to this thread in the fall as we apply to various schools with GPA and SAT scores that aren’t off the charts. Thank you for this thread!

Update: I got into Marist for Spring 2017!
It’s unaffordable, though.
It’s been many years, but I got into UC Irvine, U of Oregon, UVA, and Notre Dame with level 4 grades, including some 'C’s and a ‘D’ academic coursework. Got to my freshman year and promptly failed half my classes.
And after getting my PhD, I now teach at a UC.
