After hearing all these astronomical scores and GPAs being rejected, let’s celebrate those of us who are, apparently, extraordinary human beings with less than astronomical scores who still got in.

Let’s do this:

GPA: 3.4 (unweighted)/3.7 weighted
SAT: 1810
ACT: 29
Major: Theatre
How do you think you got in?: Audition

GPA: 3.73 <– I don’t even know if that’s weighted or not. I’m sort of confused what my GPA is
SAT: 1970
ACT: 31
Major: Computer Engineering and Computer Science
How do you think you got in?: Essays

GPA: 3.5 weighted… apparently
SATs: 2210
ACT: DIdn’t take
Major: Undecided
How do you think you got in: SAT scores, US Citizen educated abroad? Essays?

GPA: 4.5 weighted, 4.0 uw
SATs: 1640
ACT: 27 (1830)
SAT II: 720- US History, 640- Math 2
Major: Undecided
How do you think you got in: GPA mainly, ECs (Princeton symposium, AP scholar, Boys State), and possibly, school’s low test scores. I know USC takes the school environment into consideration.

GPA: 3.92 uw, 4.16 w (at the time I think)
SATs: 1630 (superscore haha :P)
ACT: 21
SAT II: US History- 490 (I think) Math II - 530 Chemistry - 550
Major: Journalism
How do you think you got in: Essay, extreme passion for journalism, location, and/or first generation?

Update: So, my daughter has a year under her belt. Ready? Admissions and Mom (that would be me) who admitted/pushed my daughter to go to USC knew what they were doing.

(This for those of you who, when admitted, doubt your stats and/or ability to succeed at SC)

My daughter’s grades are in the B/Bplus (overall) gpa. She joined a club sports team and a sorority. She is really happy. So, when the big envelope comes be it expected or a surprise: Go for it! You’ll be in for the ride of your life.
