The Indian Thread #21

Yup, I am done with the tests. I don’t think I can improve my ACT score anymore :wink:
I am contending between Stanford or Harvard SCEA.

Stanford *was my dream.

Turns out, not too much in the photography area.
Also good going on the 36 .
You’ve done what probably everyone ‘should’ do.

Oh come on! Once a potterhead, forever a potterhead!

If not that, we are C-men. LOL
Since Charles Xavier had XMen named after him, Sheldon Cooper has his team under C-men! XD

Not done with standardized tests.
Taking Subjext tests and ACT this October an SAT1 in November.
Have to get a 2200+ in both.

EAing at Pton.

Agreed with North on the testing. For the Maths IIC Subject Test, you don’t need to look anything further than Barrons. I used PR and Barrons for Chemistry and they worked wonderfully. Just a caution though, PR has accurate tests and Barrons has comprehensive syllabi. Physics? I have no idea.

Look at Mrinal acting all cool and nonchalant while you guys talk about standardized testing. It’s like he doesn’t even care :wink: Mrinal, I’d recommend Stanford SCEA simply because a definitive decision from Stanford EA will be much better than a plausible deferral from Harvard.

EDIT: Also, everyone, do EA/SCEA at least somewhere because it is drastically good for you because of a less likely possibility of clones.

ah okay thank you guys!
Also is there some kinda rule that u cant EA to all ivies and standford together?
I was reading it somewhere but was unable to read the whole article and now I cant find the link…
Please tell if its true and what all colleges we cant EA together?

You can EA/ED to just one private uni and one public(not so sure about public!)

Crystal if you want my honest opinion,
get done with your sat1 before, retakes and all.

You know how people say get everything done over asap?
well, for subject tests, atleast in my opinion id rather Wait.

The stuff in physics (topics I mean) though relatively easy to self study and get by,
Go waaay easier when you have already learnt them in school.
Honestly I gave my SAT 2 after 11thr finals so everything was fresh in my brain.

Just my two cents.
(maths is manageable.) (alone I mean)

If you apply SCEA to a college, you can’t apply EA to a private college. That means, since Stanford only has SCEA, you can’t EA to Stanford as well as another ivy. So, I guess you are right Crystal.

Tiz: You are right, I don’t care. :p

hey tizil how much did you score in SAT reasoning?

Tiz had a 2180 SAT. Sorry, I stalked you Tiz :o

Oh okay thanks for the tip north i dont plan to take SAT II before march anyways I just want to know what I all books and things I need … I really appreciate ur tips though! :smiley: Thanks again!

Oh okay, nice score Tizil!
Any one know any shop in Delhi that sells Direct hit Books? I have searched almost all parts of delhi and no one has it some say they are publishing a new edition … shopkeepers are not very sure though…
I cant order it through Amazon because of some personal resons and I ordered from crossword and they are also out of stock :frowning:
Can any one help?

Is it me or everyone ignored the Sheldon-joke?
Doesn’t anyone watch the big bang theory? :O

Direct hits can be ordered from flipkart. I ordered mine from that website.

Crystal, about EAing and EDing.

You can ED to only one school. I’m not sure if you can EA to other schools if you have ED’d to one school.

You can EA to infinite number of schools. It is limited only by the number of schools the application allows and your energy.

If you SCEA to one school, you cannot EA anywhere else.

Stanford, Harvard and Princeton have SCEA. ED is binding. If you get in ED, you have to enroll in that school, legally speaking. You can, however, weasel out if you cite financial problems, but that’s only a loophole.

Mrinal, you’ve stalked me well :p

Rew, of course! I got the C-Men joke. TBBT is good :D

Wow you guys talk a lot

@rew, I dont :frowning: but I do watch masterchef Australia :stuck_out_tongue: and I plan to cook a chocolate cake tom. :stuck_out_tongue:
flipcart is out of stock :(

rew: I would have replied if I didn’t care about TiT 21 going down.

Crystal: Checked flipkart??

Okay now I am way too confused btw what is the difference btw ED, EA and SCEA…
Can some one explain and please tell what do ED EA and SCEA stand for…
I know ED mean early decision…

@mrinal i did, out of stock

@rew DItto mrinal.
Dont want earliest lockdown.

ED= Early decision.
You apply early, and if you get in you HAVE to go there

EA= Early Action
You can apply to multiple colleges EA (ONLY EA) and choose whichever you please if you get in.

SCEA= Single choice early action
You can apply to only ONE college EA.
Eg ONLY stanford, or ONLY pton.

[ul]
[li]Early Decision: Early, Binding.[/li][li]Early Action: Early, Not Binding.[/li][li]Single Choice Early Action: Like Early Action, just that you cannot apply early anywhere else.[/li][/ul]

Crystal, you know what? I can give you mine sometime in December, in Delhi. If you care to have them.

rew, I love the big bang theory! Sheldon is GOD. And masterchef australia is soo good. The food they make …need.to.stop.thinking.about.food. :stuck_out_tongue:

Mrinal, I don’t think going a little off-topic will bring down the thread. You’re right though, we need to be careful. (The TiT’s getting locked has become somewhat of a tradition…)
