The Indian Thread #22 AKA Class of 2018 admissions

@ Sahil, I’m there with ya mate, although I’m giving the Subject tests. Best of luck for tomm! :D

Thanks man! How was your test? Which center were you in?

My TOEFL is coming up this Saturday. Nervous I know the format and stuff (of the test). But donno what to expect.

TOEFL and IELTS are way easier than we expect them to be. Even if you get a little over 500 on SAT CR, you can get more than 100 in TOEFL and 7 in IELTS. Ofcourse, the only difference would be your speaking skills.

If it helps, I got 590 on SAT CR whereas I got 109 in TOEFL. I’m a very good English speaker though. What I prepared for my TOEFL was the format of the test :-)

So be confident and concentrate on the speaking section.

All the best  in TOFEL just be careful about the speaking section and you are good to go :)

What is the earliest date for the applications for freshman year to be sent to Harvard, or for that matter , any other school??? Can we apply to a college before the beginning of senior year?? Will this have any effect on the decision???

Hello guys… I’m planning to give SAT in June and aiming for 2000+

I would be applying to Purdue and Univ of Wisconsin Madison and wanted to know the sat score required for the two. I even wanted to know other good options for computer sci for spring intake.

Please reply… I need urgent help…

I don’t know the answer to BChanakya’s question; I’d like to know as well.

Also, is anyone taking the ACT in June?

Na Na…You can’t apply to any college before your senior year. Yes, there are early schools there but as far as I know, there aren’t any good ones. Also, I am unsure whether early colleges accept int’l students.

@BChanakya @SahilC Forget about that option.

Why don’t you look at the stats provided on Big Future and About.com??

A SAT score of 1900-2000 is generally enough for Purdue and UW Madison. It’s always good to have a score of 2100 or more.

I knew nothing about spring intake. I never actually inquired about it. There is a lot of time available for spring admissions. So give it some time on the internet.

At first i use to believe in the stats on about and bigfuture… But after i asked some of the counselling agencies they told me these scores are average and for an international student it is not certain that we will get admission as the scenario in us is very competitive. They told me although we need 1900 or 1950 for georgia tech… People still need to score above 2150 to get in.

By Te Way thanks for helping and If you could tell me the lowest score for an int student for the above mentioned unis.

I also want to know if there are any other good unis for SPRING 2014.

Thanks

I second hopingforbetter,
You can’t apply to a good univ. before your senior year. The earliest you can apply is in october through SCEA/EA/ED.

I know people who got into Purdue with a 1800 SAT. Have a look at the 17er thread.

Hey could you provide me with the link… Thanks… By The Way do i need really high marks in my cbse board for purdue?
Whats the avg sat score requirement for uofwmadison?

Alright sounds good. So when should we start getting out applications ready and stuff?

talk.collegeconfidential.com/india/1346287-indian-thread-21-a.html

Not really high. 80+% is okay.
don’t know much about UofMadison.
you’re an 18er too?

In mid july mostly.

I don’t know what you mean by 18er but if you are talking about age then I’ll be turning 18 this sept… I’m done with my schooling and waiting for results … Meanwhile I have given entrance exams in India but I’m planning to go to the us… I know I’m too late but I still have a chance…
