<p>and no formula is used with the SAT scores. Although the University do make indexes and one such index is the academic one (on a scale of 5 at MIT) and on this index the score you get is thru checking of your transcripts, test results and teachers Reccs.</p>
<p>I tell u in detail some time later but as of now… i know its a lot diff … also admission process is In a slow change and makeover too…</p>
<p>Abt SAt. i didnt mean formulas . . And if the index is what is made. . . How does SAT1 and SAt2 compare there … Coz like one of univ with the policy i stated is Dartmouth…</p>
<p>And does our Sats and academics go only in the Index or some other evaluation also… coz i seems to have heard a lot more… ur Yahoo id Vampiro…Btw</p>

<p>Some info i also got was abt a few top ones totalling ur sat1 and sat2 highest scores … to compile a 4000 score …then giving it a score or grade …is this true… Coz say there can be 2 cases ;;;</p>
<p>SAT1 = 2200 …old system 1500
SAT2 = 2250 each 750</p>
<p>So total = 3700 / 4000 or as per pre. yrs . 3750/4000 … Or if writing is not that important this year;; 3000/3200</p>
<p>Also case 2 :</p>
<p>Sat 1 : 2050 : old system 1400
SAT 2 : 2350 two 800 and one 750</p>
<p>So total here : 3650/4000 or by old system 3750 … Or if writing is not that important this year;; 3000/3200</p>

I think the for the index like if you seem an engg applicant or medical or are applying to major science univs then main focus will be on advanced exams like the SAT II . Even for any place where you indicate your major (like Literature or history) the related sAT II (obviously you’ll give the SAT II if you are already decided on the subject ) so they’ll look more closely on it.
The SAt I I think they just see the Maths score to see efficiency and temprament and from next year writing will also become important (I dont think CR is focused that much (except for the state colleges and some very minuscle univs…which are not our cup of tea)). The reason abt the big (say with 70000+ students focus on SAT’s is 1. they dont have SAT Ii in their requirements and 2. They take in people with a formula. i.e. if you have gpa 4 then SAT 1100 will get you in. if GPA is 3 then SAT 1250 and so on) but at all other places which require SAT II more emphasis is on SAT II.
Also the CR is ignored because even the adcomms know the unpredictability and unreliability of this section (but imo writing will be used to good extent next year as this section provides insight on writing and editing skills required for research thesis)</p>

<p>one more thing mind you the SAT’s are tests made for US citizens an international applicants application is always studied with full concentration and even more so for the ones who want finaid.</p>

Somehow I have this feeling that either I’ll go to one of the best or be rejected by all…I dont know why but a strange gut feeling so I wont apply to more than 2 safeties now just to decide which they will be.</p>
<p>and dude I think all of us got very late with the testing and stuff. I mean last year by this time the guys were retaking SAT’s or had only one set of tests and had finished with their tests in June of senior year. Guess we were really late. Actually we could have done SAT II in June easily… But then whats done is done.</p>

Most angrez dont study science with so much vigour and they have more colleges than they want…</p>

You’ll find one going to the north and the one right below it says exactly opposite. The thing now is we (atleast I) will keep all discussions to TiT and just see what happens with the results.</p>

Look at the tragedies ok
First I come to class 11 I enroll for Fiitjee…after class 11 the franchisee is taken away from the owner and I am stranded (although I got all of my money back).
In our class 11 the pattern and time of english paper changed so the past year papers are of no help.
When I decided to give the SAT…the goddamn pattern changed…
Now the IIT pattern is also changing
The BITSAT was introduced (so no use of high board marks there)
The NTU exam 10th %age went higher to 92% (so now I cant give the exam coz of lack of 1.6%
When I gave my SAT II the earthquake came.
When I wrote my first essay the next day Katrina hit USA.
God only knows what might happen this SAturday when I give the SAT</p>
