<p>well Caltech is usually not much talked about as mostly they take intels who are some olympiad medalists or other kind of geeks…and geeks usually dont come online or inform others about their status…so in short its hard to tell whether any indian got to caltech with aid…actually you can ask Ben Golub on the caltech forum.</p>
<p>oh and also I want you guys to know that on the 21st the Dean of MIT’s undergraduate research came here to Dehra Dun to visit the local college DIT and give a guest lecture. (man it was amazing to actually see someone from MIT)…also some exchange students will be coming to Dehra Dun soon to study at DIT and mingle with Indian culture…How cool is that.</p>
<p>yes apparently the guy who bagged a gold for india at the IPhO this year was picked up after the Intl. Olympiad itself, full scholarship of course</p>
<p>asaatvik, you’d better check your infromation sources. 2 indias got gold at the IPhO. One is doing cse at iit, the other at iitd.</p>
<p>oh yes my physics professor was a researcher at MIT Media Lab … (Jurgen Fritz, if you know him)</p>
<p>a physics prof from IITKanpur came to our school for an info session (I think his name is Vijay) and this is what he had to say. He organizes the olympiads and whatnot</p>
<p>you may have misunderstood it, or he may have. otherwise the guy doing cse in iitd neglected to tell anyone, including his team mebers in the IPhO, and also didnt take up their offer…
i dont know any of the people on the team of the year before, but i think i would have heard of him atleast. and if i remember correctly, there havent really been many gold medal winners from india in the IPhO. The guy who won gold in the IMO when he was in his 11th got into MIT though, but even he had to take the SAT and fill out the applications and all…</p>
<p>the facts that Shash gave is correct…and what u are saying is also not wrong saatvik.indeed there was a IPho medalist who went to caltech but not from last year it was some years back (Vijay Singh also came to our school…so thats how I know)</p>

duke won the NIT tournament in basketball this year… we’re gonna win the ACC tournament as well… doubt this makes much sense to ya’lll… but i like to boast about duke:P</p>

jeez gimme a break… what’s this obsession with MIT? come to america next year and you’ll all find out that CC is a complete mis representation of the whole college admission proces… ppl respect people from MIT as much as people from state schools… its honestly not big of a deal… dont worry about where u go too much… just go where they give u $$$ and be happy… thats all that matters really</p>

<p>btw I just won The SS Memorial Trophy 2004-2005 for being the best coordinator and Journalist given by THE STATESMAN …hurrah…thr trophy is HUGEEEEEEE abt 8-9 Kgs and 2.5 ft in height …]
