I would say saatvik that to the best of my knowledge after searching for weeks I could not find one single International applicant who got into Stanford early with aid. Btw Saatvik whats your IM on yahoo.

Sorry SM my yahoo is giving problems right now.We can have a general chat here if you wanna know something important.

Saatvik did u give an interview for MIT yet. I think if you have given the interview then your EC must have been Vinay Rai as you endorse my point of the school marks neglection by the adcomms.

accha everyone tell me who all are giving AP exams. I think we should give them as they’ll surely get atleast a semester worth of course off our backs. and the placement tests which are taken in colleges will not be that feesible considering that we’ll be out of touch of our studies and we have a good chance to score well on AP’s as we’ll be doing our boards and competitions.

I wouldn’t bet on that, At most of the top colleges, the APs just place you in a higher course and you can’t drop a course (thats the case mostly for engineering though). But if you really want to take APs, try taking gen chem, (you can def place that out).
But my advice would be that the APs are not so important because they won’t let you drop courses and second, if you want to go to a higher course, you just have to convince the teachers at ur american uni. to let you take it.

The best option is to take the university’s own Advanced Standing exam, then you can be sure to get credit if you pass. CollegeBoard AP tests dont always work. Also, you might be surprized to find how difficult university AP tests are… I thought I was good at physics…

same as my CC id. The only difference is that I’m never online on Yahoo (or any other IM network for that matter Though if you wanna chat then I can come online.

No, my interviewer was an Indian-American from the UofTexas (UT) Health Center at Houston. She was kinda nice.

hey guys…howd u get an interview for MIT??? Even I’m applying…but I didnt get any info of an interview!!

Also, is there anyone here who has already sent in the applications for the various schools whose deadline is Jan 1st?? If not, when r u plannin to do so???

AP courses I would have taken if I knew how things worked in Princeton :p

AP chem. Why waste 2 semesters on gen chem when you could be taking other courses? Too bad it doesn’t place you out of orgo
AP Bio - Helps you place out of EEB 211 which is just apparently v. boring.
Calc BC - no reason for this really, except that I would feel better prepared for MAT 203 (Multivariable Calc) I dunno how much it would help though, but nearly all the science majors seem to have taken it.

such, you dont need AP credit for placement into math, if you just convince your adviser that you have already done all the stuff in 103,4. you do get placed into a 200 level course.

Adides and illbeback, I PMed u sometime back… Still I havent got any reply… Please reply soon
One more ques, how many Indian Students were offered Admission with fin aid from Duke University?

well Duke admitted a total of 5 people with financial aid from India. You’ll also find this number if you look back a hell lot of a pages on TiT (and the name stays on) haha.

btw Sachit I think the deadline to contact your interviewer was Dec 1. I have no idea how you can get an interviewer. I think to know abt that you have to register with my MIT.
