The Indian Thread (TiT) # 14

So two friends meet again
Prachi, I and Ankur have applied to Vanderbilt. I have applied for fin aid only…

hi everyone,
SO what is this latest buzz regarding Georgia Tech. I hear that most of u are applying there now according to your weird calculations.
Well best of luck for that.

What do you mean by that??

that was for ronty and prachi…dexter
They have calculated the 3 yr cost to be like 35k…
and ronty just told me how…

but IMO its a big risk

yes…a big risk…and I m not sure whether I will apply or not

oh you should apply…but think before u go

where have you guys done your “calculations”?? i couldn’t find it on TiT…

Sahil, its not on TiT… ;)

well its a long story…

30k total expenses for 4 yrs
shikhar2002in: huh
shikhar2002in: I heard that thing from Ankur
ronty: ok
shikhar2002in: can u explain your calculations
ronty: ask him…he has understood ot better
ronty: it*
shikhar2002in: well
shikhar2002in: but yaar
shikhar2002in: its your calculations
shikhar2002in: please tell me
shikhar2002in: how u got to 30k an year
BUZZ!!!
ronty: ok
ronty: it is mentioned on their website that their per annum exp is 30k
ronty: xxx told me that for a general student
ronty: its aorund 25 k(if one doesnt spend a lot)
ronty: then AP’s
ronty: PT job every yr with 8k
ronty: then Co-ops
ronty: due to AP and some more classes
ronty: one can try to complete the course in 3 yrs
ronty: so 25x3=75k EXP
shikhar2002in: ok
ronty: 8kx3=24k PT earning
ronty: 15k=thru Co-op for 3yrs
ronty: something like that
shikhar2002in: so that comes
shikhar2002in: to
ronty: got the rough estimate?
shikhar2002in: uhh
shikhar2002in: 33k for 3 years
shikhar2002in: and say if u had to do for 4 years
ronty: yes
ronty: then add 24 more
shikhar2002in: I mean is it really possible to take all those classes
shikhar2002in: and does PT job get u that much

WHOA!! those are some calculations!!..hmmm AP??..how many here r taking these??..i initially thot abt them but then later dropped the idea…

hey dexter: Make yourself useful and do one thing. Go to American Embassy school and find out whether they allow outsiders to give AP’s thru their school.

when i am not giving them why should i bother!!

hey u should give them. Can get u lot of courses off at sasta price. at most of the colleges u are looking at.

yes…why shud u bother

dude if u have an international school[we have Ambani/American school here] in ur city mostly they ll let u take the APS… but yeah id like to know too if the embassy offers the test… im not sure they do though…

dexter y did u drop the Ap idea…

Prachi…I am not talking abt American Embassy.
I am talking abt American Embassy School. Which is a US high school in Delhi.

oh k…

well i didn’t wanna take the AP’s as it would have increased the pressure on me…you know after almost a year after sitting idle i think i would have found it difficult to stay with the course…basically i didn’t want to miss the first year, where course load is less, as it would give me some time to settle in…thats all…
