The Indian Thread (TiT) # 14

Maybe that’s why Europe’s waning in power, or maybe India’s greatest strength is its population…India has become such a hot investment destination mainly because of its young and resourceful population but you are right, it has to stop increasing.

I doubt that, in general economic growth is favored only by the rich class...nation has two options: EFFICIENCY and EQUITY, effieciency is the economic growth and equity is fair distribution of resources in the society, and these two choices ALWAYS conflict, you can't have both.. So economic growth can never be demanded by the 'common man', it was due to the government policies of Rao and Singh.</p>

soo true!!! anyways are you coming to newyork or princeton anytime soon?? you should really drop by!!
anyways, if you guys want to end this discussion, its cool with me, it was fun while it lasted though  …its a pity though, all the old players finally reunited :)

adides, whats the best thing u love about Princeton? and the thing u hate most?

adides since you want to discuss something…why not tell us something about those hot careers in finance and management and share what you might have learned this year…:)

Hi
I got into northwestern. got my decision today. has anyone else got a decision?

not me dude…and not some of my friends…infact no one on this thread has got one yet…

ok so you got it in the evening only eh…cool…so is this your top priority or are u waiting on something else…

what are your other decisions…and your stats…

well… its one of my top choices . waiting for cornell, brown , upenn and a few others. got waitlisted at wustl. i think they waitlisted every1 . i hav abt 5 other friends who got waitlisted there as well.
my sat 1 - was 2100
icse - 93%
sat 2 - 1350
rank - top 10%
wat are your decisons?

hey congratulations man, northwestern’s amazing! hope you party hard!!

3 best things:

 • Great professors for non-science classes
 • Great parties
 • Fun experience

3 bad things:

 • bad introductory classes for sciences.
 • too much work prohibits any free thinking
 • an isolated campus makes your college life very restricted (especially since i love big metros!)

Uum, tough one, well the deal is that almost everyone wants to join finance and i-banking, making it the hottest career…you get well paid and its fun according to what i hear…but you can’t decide you career soo soon! after you attend college you’ll realise that there are so many fields that you never considered but you would love. So, the only thing i am saying is that dont go to college with anything in your mind, take random courses, explore and i am sure you won’t regret that!

something I find troubling too

“and its fun according to what i hear”
IBanking fun??? Apart from the fact that u have no life outside of office yeah its fun…

Anyways arent people like more into going to consultancies rather than Ibanking…i mean yeah it is a well paying career but then the occupational hazards are a bit too much (like working some 100+ hrs a week in the start) :D

anyways…yeah i too feel its better to decide a career once in college…but then it never hurts to have few options in mind…

Hi hello…so how’s life at Duke…

Apart from work, you party 4-5 times a week, the work itself is like none other - its ruthless, you dont care for anyone, there are no formalities present in it (considering your sector)…for me thats a lot of fun, for my 20s at least!

At princeton, i-banking still is the hottest thing… and i guess its the same at all other places, but depends on the person, you like to the job you do it…you like the ruthlessness, the long hours, the great pay, the great partying you do it!

Whats up hello!! hows duke?? hope you having fun, looks like all the ‘oldies’ are back!

i get the message adides…and well the pay is well outrageuos i mean best bankers get like what is a fortune every year…so yeah its bound to be hot…The best thing about ibanking is that there are no course requirements so well you can study whatevr you like and still go into it…

All these things I agree with. The parties are pretty good. I haven’t been to the Street for some time but yeah I love going out. I was kinda nervous at first because I decided not to drink freshman year (I’m in subfree housing and none of my suitemates drink) but I managed to have a good time even without drinking myself to a stupor in the taprooms. This is despite the fact that most of the people I go out with are drinkers.

1.) Yeah I heard that the normal intro science classes were boring. The intro science course I am enrolled in is very far from boring. Also, the intro CS class is amazing (CS is not my thing AT ALL but I still managed to enjoy parts of it)
2.) Once again, my experience is limited to only my Integrated Science class which is a LOT of work but it’s mostly about free thinking. Also, like Adi mentioned, most of the intro humanities classes are very awesome and the workload for these (papers etc.) does entail some amount of free thinking if you want good grades. I have felt overwhelmed by the work on several occasions and my brain feels so fried that it just doesn’t want to think, but it passes.
3.) Yeah there is some truth in this. I like small towns myself (I would hate to go to college in NYC!) but I can see how this can be a problem for some people. However, my lazy roommates and I are only too happy to sit around on campus :p

ahahahah we’ll be sophomores next year, still don’t know what my chaotic draw group is doing, and we’ll probably end up in Wilson’s worst housing :(

This sucks :(

yeah well adides when you are depressed just think of 80k students sitting in Purdue which frankly is in the middle of nowhere…:D

hey adides…from sometime now i’ve been looking for the latest salary offerings in Ibanking and consulting…do u have any link to any of it…the careers in finance one is very old…something new if u have one…

oh yeah…i forgot to tell…i have been accepted to NC State University…

are you kidding me??? i am in butler, even the best butler wont be as good as any wilson!!!

The street’s a lot of fun, yeah it can get repetitive some times, but its still pretty good  , i can’t believe that you don’t drink as much!! my liver’s on the verge of exploding :D

one more thing…adides have you got an access to a messenger now…whats your id…PM me (yahoo,MSN,gmail anyone)

oh and also i have to make a point here…that Maxim magazines India version is downright idiotic and nonsense and total waste of money…
its something like a wannabe fat village woman in modern western clothes which make people hate tight clothes…(the movie hungama remember)…anyways i am just screwin around coz dont feel like doing anything better.
